Wetware is, was, and always will be hilariously inefficient at mechanical tasks. There's some debate whether or not you might see wet processing sometime after the majority of people decide it's ethical for whatever reason, but you will never see an organism genetically engineered to serve the role of prosthetics for the same reason that no one is trying to make a test tube ox that's almost as good as a tractor at plowing fields.
