A lot of projects do provide binaries. Are you moronic? Releases page. Binaries. If no then it's the developer/project you complain to not github. Github is a platform. Not everyone will upload binaries. Github is mainly for source code, not distributing binaries. 7zip has binaries on 7zip page, but they might have source code on github.
I don't use GitHub and I don't care about the nuance of code, repositories, or open source software. With that out of the way, what is the summary of why GitHub doesn't have a download button (aside from filtering morons who can't figure shit out)?
>clone repo >do configuration >run
vs >download via the big red button >do configuration >run
I don't see the problem.
Anyway it's right here but if you don't know the site you wouldn't necessarily think of looking for it under the "<> Code" button.
>download button
It's RIGHT FRICKING THERE you braindead troglodytes.
???
If the OP post is unfamiliar with Github, they definitely don't mean the .zip file, they mean the releases page which obviously many, many projects don't have (for good reason). The real question is what could a moron possibly need so badly that they can't find a download for or guide on youtube of.

Well due to the many ways of compiling a program such a think is not possible to implement.
Maybe microsoft can create some stupid copilot thing that generates actions to build binaries and shove them in releases.
Sometimes however it's pointless to do so
probably cuz that's not what the site is for, and they would probably expose themselves to more risk of responsibility for people fricking their shit up with malware if they acted like a software download site
If you don't use it then it's not for you, so what are you complaining about, homosexual? Anyone who does, can browse releases page or read the fricking README for instructions.
It does have a download button, multiple depending on what you're downloading. If its a project where you want a compiled binary &c, its the releases page. If you're a developer its the giant fricking green button to download literally everything in the repo. If you can't figure out how to download what you want from the page its because its not meant for you. GitHub is for developers, the releases page on github is for anyone.
When you ask for a big red button to download what the frick do you want to download? the repo? the release? Not every repo has a tagged release and is intended to just be cloned & built or cloned and used as part of another project then built. Not gonna reread and edit this,
tldr you're moronic if you can't click a big green button or the 'release' button
It doesn't need it and never will. Github is a code repository for developers. Every major project you'd want to download has their own dedicated website with a download button that auto checks your pc hardware configuration and gives you the right executable.
>dipshits that are incapable of reading a file named README don't know how to use GitHub >GitHub is a website that hosts source code for software that is largely distributed with no warranties.
If I ran GitHub I'd say the website works as intended
sure you can release them yourself but if I wanted to do things myself I'd run cgit at home, oh wait I do that.

I was joking about them finally making a big red download button but instead of the .exe that a lot of these clueless fricks want it'd be tar.gz of the source code instead
Here's a binary pre-built for you :). Don't worry about why it's using 80% of your GPU or making frequent network calls. It's just how modern software development works 🙂
RED?
That's a close button.
GitHub will never commit to having a download button. You would have to pull teeth for that kind of request.
>GitHub will never commit
theres literally a download button though
The button's not big enough. Also it downloads zip files of source code (which requires unwilling and compiling). GitHub should just provide binaries
are you stupid? github is providing nothing, its a git project hosting service. They don't manage the repos

I hate windows users and their brain dead mindset of downloading any executable and just executing it.
He wants to Download GitHub and red is his favorite color?

It does. Its easy as hell to download whatever you need from github. The person in the screenshot apparently just doesnt know what they want
>You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18.
because there exists software that requires configuration prior to deployment.
not everything is a .exe file moron
>clone repo
>do configuration
>run
vs
>download via the big red button
>do configuration
>run

right here I mean

It does, it's called the Releases page.
dogshit dubs btw
probably cuz that's not what the site is for, and they would probably expose themselves to more risk of responsibility for people fricking their shit up with malware if they acted like a software download site

There is an download button.

It's RIGHT FRICKING THERE you braindead troglodytes.
It's not red you homosexual
>Press big red download button
>"What the hell is tar.gz??"
Heh, nothing personnel kid
github doesn't even allow you to do that
To serve out tar.gz files??
sure you can release them yourself but if I wanted to do things myself I'd run cgit at home, oh wait I do that.
I was joking about them finally making a big red download button but instead of the .exe that a lot of these clueless fricks want it'd be tar.gz of the source code instead
they can't find either of them anyway
...
Red?
Fricking red?
I'm less offended by the download button and more by the colour they want it.
What the frick.
