The egregore of Jesus used auto-sacrifices and worship to build his strength but if he wanted to wrest control of Rome he needed to guide his followers into destroying the power of the old gods, i.e. statues, temples, priesthoods, festivals etc.
Most pagans had no problem in worshipping Jesus at first, It was the Christians that thought Jesus should be worshipped alone because Paul said the other deities are actually demons
Christians were really chuddy when you think about it
Duh Jesus is a Semitic deity and in spite of the fact that he’s not YHWH he is still a jealous god. What a shame, I thought he was one of the good guys.
Jesus never cared about anything outside Israel, blame Paul

Nowhere there indicates Israel would reject him though
As the many silly comments in this thread demonstrate, man does not choose how to worship God, only God can do that. And if God declares that He will suffer no other gods before Him, then suffer them we must not. Does a man dictate to the Creator the terms of reality? Even the suggestion demonstrates the actual god at the heart of paganism: the unruly human will. Pride is the chief vice for a reason, because it is a hydra that wills not what God wills.
To answer your question, if the pagan and his practices send him to hell, then loving him precisely means destroying his gods and religion, which is the worship of demons, the enemies of God. God has revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ, there is thus no mystery. We know the true religion and how it is to be practiced. All else is the noise of human pride.
I wouldnt have any problem with monotheism If God had comanded It to everybody, since he supposedly only comanded this to the israelites, i dont think God really comanded that

The 10 Commandments are baseline requirements for EVERYONE, that were not changed by the New Testament, by which only the dietary laws were abrogated. The 1st Commandment is literally "You shall have no other gods before Me." Hey, you are going to do what you want to do, but let's not play stupid.

He wouldnt be crucified
The crucifixion is really potent for some reason
The image lives rent free in my head despite i being atheist
I once saw an indian (hindu) asking why do Christians hate other gods, he even said he worshipped Jesus and Mary
Christians said he would go to hell for worshipping Mary
lmao
Yeah it's funny when you read written accounts of people like the Japanese or other pagans encountering Christian for the first time. They're like "Yeah this Jesus dude sounds pretty cool, we'll put a shrine to him next to the shrines of our other Gods!" It didn't make sense why Christians would get upset at this and demand exclusivity.
The problem of Christianity lies in the fact they thought everybody outside their culture would burn in hell
If the Heaven/hell dichotomy in Christianity worked based on good deeds, like in Hinduism, Christians wouldnt be so pshychotic

The issue is all the Hebrew trappings and the baggage of the Old Testament. The Romans solved this issue by simply claiming that the Gods appear differently to different cultures, yet the essence is the same. Christianity Is much more crude, most claim God only revealed himself to the Hebrews and the rest of the entire world was just worshipping demons the whole time. It's rare but occasionally you also get weirdos claiming the the Vikings were one of the lost tribes of Israel and Odin is an aspect of Yahweh or something.
>Shangdi (Chinese) >Tengri (Turkic/Mongolic) >The Great Spirit (North Americanindians)
The other people forgot about God, and either worship Angels, Demons, or themselves.

I've never understood the sort of deranged attitude a lot of Christians seem to have about who's going to hell. The bible explicitly states that's not for us to decide. Seems they spend just as much time if not more lecturing and judging others as they do worshipping God. It's especially prominent in American Christianity, endless squawking about how x y and z groups are doomed to eternal torment. Even Muslims aren't as bad, they just call you a kafir and move on.
I went a Methodist school and I genuinely don't think Satan or hell were ever mentioned. The focus was very much on praising Jesus.

That is true. But it defeats the purpose of a universal and expansionist religion.
Christians barely follow any of Jesus' teachings

Paganism was destroyed, not pagans.
