Have you seen the movie Wall E? That’s unironically what would happen. Maybe not the base in space but certainly that type of society.

I know the point. What I meant is a society where robots do everything and humans are hedonist cattle taken care for by the robots

That is 1/2 of the subject matter for Jason Bryan's 3rd book, Day of the Rake.

The other 1/2 is medically-assisted death. Did you know your family can still collect your life insurance if you've been MAIDs'ed?

Is it less hideously boring than The Shitkickers?

If you actually read The Shitkickers you'd know there was allusion to a human-AI institute in it already, setting up the 3rd book. It is after the main character fights the big baddie in the R.V. that crashes and rolls over, and the main character ends up in the "hospital" recovering.

a good one is player piano by kurt vonegut

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Player_Piano_(novel)

    >Player Piano is the first novel by American writer Kurt Vonnegut Jr., published in 1952. The novel depicts a dystopia of automation partly inspired by the author's time working at General Electric, describing the negative impact technology can have on quality of life.[2] The story takes place in a near-future society that is almost totally mechanized, eliminating the need for human laborers. The widespread mechanization creates conflict between the wealthy upper class, the engineers and managers, who keep society running, and the lower class, whose skills and purpose in society have been replaced by machines. The book uses irony and sentimentality, which were to become hallmarks developed further in Vonnegut's later works.

seems he didn't foresee the engineers being replaced by ai?

AI won't replace all the jobs, just the one that involve spewing a bunch of BS. Granted, that's a lot of jobs...but not all of them.

Good engineers won't be replaced by AI...they'll use AI to supercharge their performance.

We have 26 years until civilization collapses from climate change and resource exhaustion. AI was developed too late to matter.
