from a 1,4% daily chance to happen in a liberal city/country and a 0,3% daily occurrence chance in a redneck nazi region to 2,56% chance in a liberal region of DO and 0,7% chance in a redneck region.... its not that bad of a chance.

also i should add that the chance to have a road accident in some African countries every day you drive is up 10%, but usually around 5% - there is a 10% chance that you will get hit by a car if you drive in some African countries per day and this chance mathematically means that every month in some African counties you will be hit by a car or hit someone.
Yet people live up to 50-60 years in these countries often having hat hundreds of road accidents in their lifetime.
Just because mathematically you are very likelly to be stabbed once every 2-3 months in some liberal city it does not mean that people in liberal cities cannot survive up to 30 years of age.
            So please stop fearmongering.

same i guess, this is how i got my first job out of college last year
    >HR lady emails me that she's gonna call
    >I reply yes, and then she calls me and asks me basic questions and explains the basic job info.
    >She schedules video meeting with program manager
    >program manager meeting is basically just like another HR call, neither of us even turn on camera, no technical discussion
    >schedule technical interview with a team manager
    >this one we do turn on cam, nice older chinese guy asks me basic programming questions like what inheritance is and talks for a long time about his previous education and experience, I just smile and nod, ask him some questions here and there to show interest.
    >get the offer a few days later
they didn't even ask for a fizzbuzz bros, i guess they really expected absolutely nothing from a junior, which is probably how it should be anyways honestly.

Not in the VHCOL areas that would pay $200k/year. You'll never be a homeowner in NYC/The Bay Area because $200K is pretty much lower middle class there.

Of course not. If you aren't rich get in where your money buys more, not less, and choose an area with slow or no growth because all growth does is raise your cost of living. People forget high COL areas just mean more overhead, not opportunities to buy land and prepare for retirement.

If you do it right and vest a retirement from government (local, state, federal including armed forces) or save enough to net about 60K/year and retire debt free life can be quite comfy with about half that income disposable.

opinion immediately discarded. anyone who mentions salary when talking about tech pay is moronic because salary means absolutely nothing. Your RSUs + bonus make up the bulk majority of your compensation.

        t. make 170k 'salary' but vest 40k worth of stock every 2 months.
