Last time I tried Mint I spent an entire day migrating everything over. Got my drawing programs like Krita over, all my files, tablet, bluetooth headset was a pain but whatever. I really put a lot of work into bringing everything over and spent hours trying to figure out if there was a way to bring Clip Studio Paint over but could not.
Anyway, this setup worked fine for a couple weeks but one day my tablet was not calibrated for no reason. It wasn't by a lot, no errors or anything, maybe just half an inch. I searched for hours and hours for a solution but there was just nothing about it and troubleshooted for hours and hours with no solution.
So finally I tried "start_button->preferences->tablet(rightclick)->uninstall" thinking maybe it'll be like windows and you can just uninstall drivers and it uninstalled the entirety of Mint's KDE or whatever the frick you homosexuals use to display the desktop and I was left with just a "_" to type whatever God wanted me to to fix it.
So yeah, Linux isn't usable for those of us who do real work and you can go frick yourself for lying to people about how much work is required to be put in.

It's like a Vista thing but less impactful. Win11 does require better hardware and GPU, that's why some people say it takes a while to load explorer or to open the start menu. I imagine Windows 12 will require slightly better hardware than 11 due to the AI thing but most people should already have better hardware by then.

So according to "anonymous sources" this Windows AI will be released only for Qualcomm toy computers with an "AI" processor similar to Apple silicon shit, and there aren't big changes planned for x86 computers yet. In short, it looks like rather than the next Windows, the idea is to have arm laptops to compete with Apple and Chromebooks, and the AI thing is just the gimmick to make them look better that the absolute failure that Windows RT was.

Of course this could be absolute bullshit, and I'm ready to expect the absolute worst from Microsoft, but it would be nice if this were true and they really decided to separate this AI cancer for the real Windows and keep it for toy computers only.

Linux continues to fail because it's not intended to be user friendly. Linux devs literally want to fight the OS at every turn because they're programmers, linux devs can't imagine a user who treats an OS like they treat plumbing and wiring because all they want is to take a bath or power a microwave without the house flooding and burning down.

You guys do realize ~~*they*~~ have enough power and money to ~~*lobby*~~ absolutely anything, and once they test their AI spyware in Windows 12 on goys, the next Windows version will come with mandatory hardware requirements. The hardware which will be too different, too specific and too closed for Linux to ever work on it.
And no, you won't be able to stay on your 2020s hardware with Linux forever, because ~~*The Internet*~~ will also get too bloated. People who used to watch YouTube in 2006-2007 won't even be able to load the front page on the same hardware, because ~~*they*~~ made sure you'd HAVE TO upgrade.

lmao I knew when they were hyping 10 up to be the "last windows evar" that they were full of shit. We're going back to the 90's where consumer verisons of windows lasts 3-4 years tops before a new version comes out.

I miss when Windows got a new version and you knew that by SP1 everything would work fine. I hate this eternal beta testing where they literally nothing works because they don't test anything anymore because they expect you to do the testing for them. And the worst part is that when we get close to have a version that finally works, they just release a new, broken one again.

This is a good thing and will kill AI business hype completely. If Microsoft ships the full AI waifu pipeline as free Windows Home edition feature (voice recognition, language model, assistant that can speak the response, Live2D Cortana even) how are all these AI companies going to argue there's some new cutting edge frontier worth investing even more millions in. Everyone realises they're all the same, have already peaked and are finished products, gets sick of it like Clippy, and the bubble bursts

    >Microsoft is now demoing a "phone call" between you and Copilot. You can ask Copilot to help you out in a task. In this example, the user is playing Minecraft and is asking how to create a sword. Copilot is able to see what's in his inventory.

In other words, AI (MS agent) will see everything you do. Amazing sky tech. We are all fricked. Moving to Linux right now.

This surveillance nightmare refers to the "Copilot+" laptops, I want to know what is going to happen to regular computers. If all of this is exclusive to arm devices, they can have all spyware in the world for all I care.
I find it surreal that they're so completely clueless that they're selling something that literally nobody wants as the best argument to buy crippled devices that nobody wanted either.

The next generation of AMD x86 APUs have built-in AI accelerators for this shit and I presume Intel will attempt to move in the same direction. I can't recall having heard the same about the next batch of CPUs so desktops are safe for now, probably.

        >The next generation of AMD x86 APUs have built-in AI accelerators for this shit
Zen 4 APUs which came out last year have NPUs already
        >and I presume Intel will attempt to move in the same direction.
        Meteor Lake already has NPU
        >I can't recall having heard the same about the next batch of CPUs so desktops are safe for now, probably.
Arrow Lake will have it, but its NPU is useless on desktop as AI just use your GPU because it's a desktop so you dgaf about power efficiency
