Alright?

Alright IQfy, I'm about to pull the trigger on getting a new privacy phone. Spoon-feed me what is better; lineage os, graphine os, or something else?

My thoughts is based off by basic moron research is lineage os is basically just stock android degoogled, while graphene is a unique os with android capability? What's really the difference.

If I went graphene I am thinking a pixel 4a since I can get it sealed for cheap and it doesn't have a 5g antenna. I have concerns with a phone made by Google tho. Like saying the company is evil and android is a spy os, then taking said company's flagship product and making your open source project exclusive to it is weird. How do we know pixel isn't Google compromised at hardware level?

As for my daily use I just use Spotify and the browser. My biggest quality of life improvement would be finding out how to blacklist .webp and have save as by default.

Lineage is basically just AOSP. Graphene has a bunch of security hardening and privacy features.
      >Pixel 4a
Graphene doesn't support end of life phones.

I wouldn't mind updates from them but I'm the kind of guy who never likes to update things since IMOE updates slow things down. I read on their website they will update for critical vulnerabilities so can I just install whatever highest level version they'll let me and be done with it?

The main feature of GrapheneOS is that the primary dev has paranoid personality disorder and is an extremely vindictive schizo. He has a kiwifarms thread, if you want to see the ugly details.

He stepped down as lead dev last year.

I want someone with those issues designing my phone software. Give the gestalt of what he did wrong. Terry is on that site too.

Here you go, there's your privacy phone, can't get much more private than that.

Supported Pixel + Graphene is a fine *security* phone, but it's not designed for *privacy*

Last I researched, with corpo advances on fingerprinting and data brokering (and countering solutions missing or lagging), a fair level of privacy is pretty much not possible online. You can mitigate somewhat but that doesn't stop the bleeding.

Do whatever you want with this information

What would you say if I felt modern android feels like a fisher price toy. Something goes wrong and I find an answer 5 years ago on a forum that doesn't work because the android updates changed everything. I just want files and something close to a traditional computer experience on my phone.

yeah well it doesn't exist. just install graphene and live with the drawbacks (and don't expect a lot of privacy)

        this nega is right

Assuming I don't care about privacy, is graphene OS a good idea?

I think so but after the lead schizo dev departed I dunno if the project is glowing or not. just to manage expectations

Get a 2G dumbphone if your infrastructure still allows it. Everything else is RCE PE infested cope made by schizos that will eventually be exploited by glowies

2G and SMS are much less private and less secure than modern counterparts
      You're hilariously moronic

of course, also you will shine like a reflector among 4g users. my privacy expectation is that the phone does not record audio or video and send it somewhere without my knowledge.
