Mesopotamia for being the OG civilization.

Egypt for it's unique cultural autism.

Indus Valley had some cool cities.

China at this stage is irrelevant and stuck in the stone age.

When does Chinese history start to get good?

Chinese history wasn't recorded until the Zhou and won't get interesting until the Warring States period. It spent the first two thousand years doing literally nothing of note just cultivating rice and stone.

There's a difference between a purely historical annal and a work that happend to record historical facts. I'm saying that it doesn't have to be the former to "record history".

More specifically, what recent scholarship has updated about Chinese history comes from what the oracle bones say and how they differ from sources of Zhou and Han scholars. It's the whole issue of transmitted texts vs archeology.

            >There's a difference between a purely historical annal and a work that happend to record historical facts.
Oracle bones are basically neither. All of them are variations of "Heaven reveal if Lord Xi gets good sleep tonight or not" and other questions. They're not written in ways that state historical facts like "King Rong was the illegitimate son of Queen Pu who became Queen after poisoning her husband king Li in the 40th year of his life" stuff like that starts in the Zhou period.

Indus Valley is the most boring of the bunch, but atleast we're certain it's real unlike the Chinese one where most evidence is lock behind red tape. Most of the scarce info we have of the Indus civilization was spear headed by the British who atleast have an impeccable archaeological standard

Indus Valley has the biggest and well organized cities like Harappa and Mohenjo-daro. Mesopotamia is a bit behind and Egypt is a shithole in comparison.

Big Indus Valley cities are far more impressive than Egyptian shithole and pyramids were a copy of Mesopotamian Ziggurats.

            >to really drive home the point
They thought Egyptians were subhuman. That's why they married foreigners but not Egyptians.
            >False
Greek replaced Egyptian even if you call it false.
            >It wasn't the majority spoken in the city
No shit, moron. Ctesiphon was a royal city built and inhabited by Iranians, but the Iranians still used Aramaic in Ctesiphon. Aramaic was spoken in Mesopotamian cities in the modern era.
            >nor the empire in general.
Egyptian wasn't the majority language under the Ptolemies lol.
            >You are a blind
Yes you are moronic. Aramean tribes lived along the banks of the Tigris.

Egypt was conquered but maintained its distinct culture throughout.
The Hellenistic and Roman worlds even went through fads where all things Egyptian were very in vogue.

Greek already replaced Egyptian in the 3rd century BC. Mesopotamia on the other hand was fine and continued speaking Semitic.

            >Greek already replaced Egyptian in the 3rd century BC.
No, Egyptian continued well into the Arab period.
Greek only replaced in the Court, some cities were thoroughly bilingual, and others had little to no direct Greek influence.

            >absolutely no palaces, temples or even armies
That would be a win. They managed to create a whole civilization without governments, organized religion, bureaucratic military or other parasites.

          >Le pyramids
Egyptiangays only care about aesthetics. Egyptian people lived in the fricking dirt and terrible cities with a horrible standard of living, while Pharaohs engaged in megalomaniac vanity projects.

IVC people lived with best standards of living in the whole bronze age, organized cities with sanitation and conformable homes, and without tyrants making their life hell.

Huge monuments aren't a sign of a great civilization. Quality of life is.

all bronze age civilizations were shit to live in and it must have been awful to live in the late harappan era due to climate changes and invasions

Late Harappan Era was indeed a bad time, but because of cataclysms beyond their control. It was the end of their civilization.
Early and Middle Harappan, however, were great time for bronze age standards.

And ironically, despite all the jokes we make about modern India concerning poo in the loo, the Harappans actually had toilets and sewers.

    >what are the coolest of the four ancient civilizations to learn about?

Egypt has the coolest art and as you're probably Euro-American or a European, it has the most relevance to your personal history.

It doesnt matter, all the information we have available is severely corrupted by certain assumptions in archaeology and anthropology.

In my 3 and some decades of life they have already moved the date of the Bering Strait crossing (which inn my opinion may not have even happend) by 20 and then 50 and now some say 100,000+ years.

We basically know nothing about the Americas. All near eastern studies are greatly perturbed and distorted by arguments over the Bible and its historical status (which fueled most archaeological research in the ANE).

We keep changing the story on the Mycaenaens and Minoans, and just like the age of the universe/geological timescale they shift drammatically every generation or two.

It's not possible to put together a story of mankind by digging holes in a grid, cataloging found objects and carbon dating.

The first generation of diggers were all quickly made obsolete by later digs, and the story just keeps on changing and changing

Nobody knows what the next hole might turn up, possibly something that causes the whole status quo to be tossed out, but then again such an outlier would end up being debated as a forgery or mistake with endless ink spilled ine way or another.

For a long time people pushed that Clovis was the first culture in America and rejected any other evidence; messing up the entire timeline
Then you get political shit where they bury any evidence that does not fit the Native American version (''For a million years our people always lived on the land we currently claim; we never migrated or replaced other cultures'')
Same shit happened with Mungo Man in Australia

Egypt because it was a nation-state under one absolutist ruler with no intermediary princes or governors, while the rest of the world was living as tribes
