No one is good enough to reach heaven. It is not earned.
We can only get there through Christ's grace and it is only a question of whether one is willing to take it or not.

And by "take" I meant repent from one's sinful ways, carry their cross, and follow him.

This covenant was fulfilled through Christ

The 10 commandments are still mentioned in the New Testament
            1st commandment:
            1 Corinthians 8:6
            > 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
            2nd commandment:
            1 John 5
            > 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
            3rd commandment:
            > 6 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
            4th commandment:
            Hebrews 4:1-11
            Jesus is our Sabbath rest
            5th commandment:
            Ephesians 6:1-2
            > 6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

            >2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
            6th/7th/8th/9th/10th commandments:
            Romans 13
            > 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Everyone who doesnt trust Jesus and his atonement alone is going to Hell, yes.
Whatever you trust in, you will be judged by.
If you say "I am saved by faith and works" you're saying "I trust in Jesus AND my works" which nullifies Jesus. If you really trusted Jesus and his atonement, how could your works save you on judgment day? Either way, if you seek to be judged by works, Jesus is the standard, and you're going to Hell.
The Bible says that when someone believes on Jesus alone, then his* righteousness is imputed* to them; they will be covered on judgment day.

I'm not the guy you were talking to, but what did Jesus mean in this parable if he didn't mean that works matter? Why does he tell his apostles to take sin so seriously as to cut ones arm of if it leads one astray, hyperbolic as the statement might have been.

Jesus’ parables are literally meant to confuse unbelievers.
What the Apostles say is plain.
            Jesus actually says it
            >I speak to them in parables so that seeing they may see not and hearing they may hear not
            >but to you (the apostles, I.e. believers) it is given to know the mysteries
Compare what Jesus says to the multitudes versus what he says to Nicodemus who sincerely seeks him out by night… the famous John 3:16
But in any case, the righteous are ALWAYS those with righteousness imputed* to them. This is why these parables are dark sayings, you have to first understand this.

            Also:

This also doesn't imply sinning once means it's over btw, otherwise there wouldn't be verses about returning those who lost their faith to the church. The purpose of the Law is to *cover* the sins for 1 year
He made it since old testament that the only way to repay debt (sin) is to spill blood. But there exists no blood on Earth good enough to repay anyone's sin.
A white sheep is good enough only for 1 single year

There has to be a sacrifice because God is not an enabler. He is just. If you commit a sin, you must pay. But, as it stands, we cannot really pay anything and were supposed to go to hell.

The point is Jesus is to deliver that blood debt. A divine blood that is so good, so perfect, it is enough to repay all the debts of mankind and still have enough to pay for those still yet to be born.

One just need to accept it

Yeah, they really should change the name to Paulians or something instead of Christians.

            Romans 4
            > 9 Is this blessing then on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say, “Faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.”
            >10 How then was it credited? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised;
Paul was speaking facts, he didn’t invent his own religion

Yeah either Paul or Constantine should be regarded as the real founder of Christianity. Since they both editorialized the message.

            Constanting never edited anything
In fact, he never cared about Christ. He just wanted stability and he was forced to legalize Christians because it was already the state religion of Georgia, Armenia, and Ethiopia

Further oppression of Christians just ruins their relationship with other powers that were also very welcoming of Christians i.e Arabs and Moroccans

Constantine only converted when he was already about to die

If you worship him you will honor the lord’s day and you won’t have any gods before him
If we love each other, we won’t steal, murder, falsely testify, etc…

            Yeah, I know
He just made it much simple - look at me. This is how you should act.

You know Constantine and his bishops wrote the Bible in Nicea right? You need to learn your church history.

            Anonymous

            FALSE!
YOU learn the Church history dumbass shit

            Nicea was NEVER about Constantine
It was about unifying the 2 biggest sects of Christianity - Arianism believes that Christ is Human, And Trinitarism which believes that Christ, God, and Holy Spirit are one

He invited 600 Bishops but only 300 came.
And it was absolutely fricking wild!
            Everyone was fricking screaming
Imagine it: 300 hardcore Bishops who endured the worst tortures imaginable just for their faith, but never faltered. Some were blinded, lost their fingers, and even flayed, but not one betrayed Christ.

Now, they are being told to defend their faith itself
It got so bad that St. Nicholas himself was there he beat the shit out of an Arianist.

Well you said it, Constantine wasn't just there he called the meeting and ran the thing. Christ wasn't even regarded as a divine figure untill after Nicaea.

            Anonymous

            Oh shut up
Constantine was there solely with the intention of unifying the sect because he saw Christianity as a legit threat to the empire that must be addressed

Trinitarism won that but it didn't really do jackshit and Arianism dominated the popular interpretation. Constantine himself converted to Arianism on his deathbed which gave it even more momentum

Arianism would have won in the end if not for Athanaisus who stood firm and tall against it.
They straight up called him "Athanaisus against the world" because of how outnumbered he was.
And he fricking won in the end.

Arianism was finally kicked out during the Council of Constantinople and Trinitarism is now a fundamental dogma of every Christian.

            Anonymous

Well Constantine set this up in an effort to unify all the disparate branches of this cult under one theology. This accomplishes two things, it helps stabilize the society and it puts the roman emperor's in the position where they decide what is divine and what isn't. And by doing his he creates Christianity as we know it.

            Anonymous

            Again, he didn't.
In fact, less than 50 years later, Emperor Julian tried to revert Rome back to paganism and confiscated the treasures of the Church

Emperors never had any power over the Church. The Books that became canon were chosen out of popular demand, not anyone's authority

            Anonymous

You don't think the roman emperor's has power over the church? I'm sorry that is just delusional. The emperors in Constantinople had total control over the church and final say in all doctrines. It's not a democracy it's an empire.

            Anonymous

Oh sure, they have power over the politics of the Church and the reaches of their power but never its dogma, manuscripts, and ways of worship

It is impossible to edit anything in the Bible anymore when it was already duplicated heavily throughout the Mediterranean and Arabian peninsula so they didn't even try.

            Anonymous

Absolutely it's dogma and says of worship, that's one of the main priorities of the echumenichal councils, which the emperors presided over. And late antiquity is not the modern world, books like the Bible are still a luxury and most of the population is illiterate. It would be very possible to come out with the 'official' version of the Bible with some changes. In fact that was happening more or less constantly throughout christian history and into things like the reformation where people pick and choose their version. Furthermore, the early Christians would be no strangers to a fluctuating religion since that was very normal for the religions of antiquity and commonplace in the age of cults. This notion that the dogma of Christianity was unchanged from the time of Christ is just ridiculous.

I'm sorry, but this is a MASSIVE COPE. The Bible says very clearly multiple times that sinners can't enter into heaven. It also says that God's judgments are true and just. You wrongly assume that God judges according to the standards of men, or that God is ignorant in the way that men are ignorant. Everyone will accept his judgment because it is perfectly just.

    >Revelation 20:12-15
    >And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

        He's right, dude
There are 3 things unique about Christianity

        1. Salvation is not earned. Heaven is not a reward. They are invitations you receive for free
        2. Doing good deeds is not rewarded because good deeds are what you are supposed to do
        3. There are no ranks. All are equal and shall receive the exact same reward, no matter how hard they work
        4. All men are equal under his eyes. Everyone, regardless of social rank or deeds, is just another gear to his grand plan to defeat evil and must all work together for everyone's sake.
        5. Christian God is the only god who loves everyone so much, he willingly step down to their level to free them of their sins

This is also why I believe that Christianity was not made by man.
        Nothing here makes sense
Nothing here placates the concept of comfort and disdains pain.
Replacing it instead with the concept of love and how to suffer with God

Please don't post depictions of God. It's sinful.

I would ask to speak to his manager and get an explanation that would humiliate me and explain my lot in life.

If hell is real it should be the only thing on anyone's mind at all times. Every single sermon would be "sinners in the hands of an angry god" times 100 and all true believers would be walking around wearing sackcloth and sandals preaching/doing outreach to the poor and downtrodden by day and groveling in repentance by night because the alternative is an eternity of agony and divine wrath. Instead most people don't really pay much attention to hell and it's barely mentioned in the OT/NT and never in much detail. You'd think that would be pretty important, but no, everyone walks around convinced that [other group] will be subject to infinite, unending suffering but not them. Why have kids? There's a good chance they'll burn for eternity. Why do ANYTHING on earth besides fall on your knees in supplication? Anything else is vanity. The way people talk about hell and casually dismiss the very real implications of eternal punishment makes no sense if you truly believe.

Jesus talks about it all the time.

    As you will, Lord.
