I used to work extra hard because I bought the lie about merit-based advancement only to be given more work for the same amount of pay while watching my lazier yet more sociable colleagues promote ahead of me. The trick is that it's not about the amount of work you do, it's about how well-liked you are in the office. If you're an autist, you may as well just do the bare minimum

True. You're expected to do the work of 3 people while getting paid for 1 person. Or you can just do the work of 1 person and they have to hire 2 more people. There is no reason to work harder.

paid for 1 person? this was in the 2000s right? nowdays you're paid as 0,5 a person, minimum wage can't even afford housing, you better be living in a car or in a shelter

      I experienced this as well.
Outside of work, I had a circle of friends I carefully cultivated over several years.
At work, I was shit on by roasties and lazy druggies.
      Frick wagecuckery.

I've got a good job that I worked my ass off to get, but I'm not a fool so I realize that could change at any moment. But this is my last one. If I lose this job, I'm done working. Society can support me for a change.

I feel the same way. I'm tired of the whole career thing, if/when I lose or have to leave this job, it's time for my shack out in the country. I will call it a barn or a cabin or something, anything I can to keep the taxable value down. I'll build it myself off grid style and it will be small and simple living quarters. I'll have other ag buildings for a shop and storage. I want to minimize all my costs, insurance utilities, all that shit. That way I can just chill and not have to deal with society at all anymore

It's common to be able to build a "hunting cabin" on land that isn't zoned to build a "domicile", which will save you significantly on the land purchase

Here, we don't need council permission or to pay any taxes for removable non-permanent structures. Eg. Trailer home, caravan. So people are building tiny homes on stilts for 10k. With solar and a water source and determination, you could never pay rent and exit the system. Maybe start a commune. Become a cult leader!

I was actually trying by best but the coworkers were absolutely toxic af, all those morons did was to take a lot of smoke breaks and talk people behind their back from the bosses down to the new guys it didn't matter. It was by far the worst workplace I ever had

My coworker died and he just retired on 5/1

I'm so depressed. I can't move. I feel numb. I feel like what's the point of work? If I make it thru to my retirement plan I get to retire at 65 years old, which already sucks. I don't even want to make it to 60 bc that's when I think all the health problems set in hard. I think in my 60s I'll probably be trying to beat some serious health problem; cancer or something disabling. So I'll have to keep working to keep my stupid health insurance, bc I can't afford it anywhere besides work, so I'll have to keep working while I'm sick and hopefully I can retire by 62 and if I'm not disabled or I'll or broken, then maybe I can finally enjoy life. Travel, take time for myself. It feels so pointless. I don't want to do all that in my 60s I want to do it now. I feel like I would happily trade these years for working mindlessly in my 50s and 60s.

This all just sucks. I can't believe that man JUST retired and now he's gone. He didn't even get to enjoy it. I feel so bleak about everything. Glued to my couch today. 🙁

The thing that really gets me about the whole "work" system is the huge amounts of time and effort people put into paying for a home. We're supposed to aspire to home "ownership" but what does that mean in a country of property taxes and eminent domain? Does anyone truly "own" their property or do they just pay a rental fee to the bloated bureaucracy? It's great if you have a house you can pass down to your children but these days broke Western governments are drawing up capital gains taxes to ensure the next gen is financially screwed. I shudder to think how much worse things will get before the masses finally say "enough"

Not gonna fault any of you. Seriously, only do the bare minimum or quit outright for something better.

    >That being said.
I was a NEET for the last 4-5 years and got myself a cozy job as an accountant/bookkeeper thanks to a friend of mine. Was smart enough back then to get that shit certified just in case I wanted or needed to go back.

    >So what can we learn?
Connections are everything; you're better off being liked than skilled. And if you have to rely on skill, pick one that is a necessity and everyone needs. Thank frick I'm autistic enough to enjoy being the guy who requests your books and can tell you with confidence why your company is dogshit. Underrated profession if done correctly.

I tried to do so during the start of Covid (stuck working an essential worker job) and within a week I got pulled into the boss's office and given a "get your shit together or we're firing you" speech. The only reason I didn't call their bluff is that my boss was a nice guy and had gone to bat for me a couple of times after I had fricked up and was on the brink of being fired.

    The world outside is hell.

Rent in my area starts at $1600 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. My aunt lives in one with 4 other people and they have a mattress in the "living room." I just spent $200 for the equivalent of two and a half weeks of groceries. My morning breakfast sandwich and coffee cost me $20. I have to pay $300 tomorrow for my phone bill + car insurance.

Everyone I see outside is some type of mixed race mutt. Today at target I saw a 6'5 mixed brown goblin ginger (with light eyes and an afro) walking around. Every other kid is mixed race mystery meat. All the women under 40 (and some over) dress like prostitutes, even the kids. I saw a 7 year old wearing crop tops and a yoga pants.

Can someone tell me why I should show up to an interview for a second job on Monday?
