          He's gay

He's bi but enough of a sperger I'd say he could have difficulty finding someone who would frick him. If he did die a virgin, it was not for lack of hitting on people. There's plenty of cases of him confessing love and the other person just never addressing it.

He probably wasn't even a sperg. Some people are just born under a bad star

Nah he's definitely a sperger. If you read other people's account of him it's all people saying he's a sperger. The vast majority of them are very nice about it (Dickens being one of the outliers who was less nice about it once he lived with him) but everyone considered him odd and oblivious to basic social rules. I think he could have died a virgin just because everyone baulked at explaining sexuality to the sperger who thinks the three hours you spent in silence together makes you soul mates.

            He's gay. Seethe.

He's bi, and being gay or bi does not preclude you from being a sperger.

He fricked men. This is /misc/ tier like when people say Achilles is not gay

            Anonymous

Afaik we don't have proof he fricked. The proof we have for him fricking men is pretty equivalent to the proof we have for him fricking women. He's definitely in love with men and women, and some of those men we know were gay, but he's also declaring his love for straight dudes. The problem is we have some evidence that gay men turned him down, and a frickload of evidence that he was an Archimedes tier sperger.
Whether he's a successful bisexual in execution, he's definitely openly declaring his love to both sexes. Even in love letters to men he's writing about how he also likes X type of girl, because the dude is a sperger who doesn't see a problem with putting that in writing.

Why would it be bad to put that in writing

Because you could get arrested. Andersen writes letters to people he falls in love with that are really inappropriate for the era, so a lot of the people who just ignored the part of the letter where he wants to be their boyfriend are saving him legal troubles. It's not just men doing it to protect his reputation, women leave him down easy too in an age where they could sue him for support from his royalties if he didn't marry them. Being gay was still illegal and telling a woman you wanted to spend your life with her and not following through after having sex was a kind of fraud that entitled her to alimony. Everyone loved Andersen in the doting on the sperger way (except Dickens and his family) but a lot of the people he's declaring his undying yearning for describe him as innocent, in the sense he probably didn't understand social interaction well enough to understand sex or a marriage. I'm not saying he didn't love men, he fell in love with plenty of people, but most of those people don't view him as frickable, and have difficulty explaining to him why they can't just larp as ancient princes together forever as a life plan. One of the reasons it's likely he never fricked a lot of the guys he wrote love letters to is we have so many. Nobody felt the need to burn them to save anyone from jail or infamy, which is normally the first thing any family, partner or friend did for gay dead people.

Sounds like being a "sperg" is better than being normal. What a bunch of grim people.

It's great reading Andersen's impression of things and other people's impressions. Other people are like
            >Andersen just sat quietly in his chair all night not interacting with anyone.
            And Andersen is like
            >This was the best night ever! I love spending time with people. I said hello to everyone!
It helps he's a great writer, but he's having a wonderful experience that nobody else is having.

If you've ever been a wizard, I would expect you could potentially have an enlightened position on virginity.
It's never over when it comes to writing, my friend. Your life experience will serve you greatly. Study lit diligently and you can write a good book.

        a) Only according to modern commentators who can't conceive of people having deep or meaningful friendships or relationships that aren't sexual.
        b) Lesbian sex isn't really sex anyway
