The Hindutvas probably hate those buildings

Why should they care for their colonizers footprint specially when their country knows no shortage of architectural wonders.

That's probabaly one of the most architecturally appealing buildings in India.... Should at least care for what is given to them, not squander it.

Can't think of a more cucked thing that allocating resources to maintain your colonizers leftovers.

Railroads serve a practical use. These leftover buildings have no real use other than taking up real estate space.

Same reason why Germans still take care of Roman buildings and Turks take care of the Hagia Sophia. The butthurt will fade with time and their future descendants won't be perpetually seething and crying about it like they currently are.

Vast majority of Germany was never part of Rome, and on the contrary Germanic tribes conquered and ended the Western Roman Empire. And the Turks came to Anatolia afterwards as foreign conquerors, not as a local people already there that was conquered or colonized by the Eastern Roman Empire. Neither of these two cases are comparable to any situation with Indian butthurt over British colonization of India.

That's such a moronic attitude. These buildings are theirs now. If anything they're a symbol of victory

I wish mexicans had such an attitude. The old spanish colonial style of architecture is such an eyesore compared to the mesoamerican architectural tradition.

wdym? We don't "maintain" those because they're thousands of fricking years old and the integrity of the ruins is easily compromised if we made the attempt (which we have before). It's like asking why Italians don't rebuild or maintain the Roman Forum into some gaudy recreation that removes the authenticity of the original.

we still maintain Spanish architecture because it wasn't built that long ago and we still feel a connection to that culture given that the Spanish "went native" to a degree. Unlike poojeetland where the British just became the administrators.

All of it should be knocked down and replaced with something better. Had the Anglicised Indian elite not continued the educational policies of the British, their influence would've faded significantly by now. It's a disgrace that the only movement opposed to the old elite is something as ill made and low aiming as Hindutva. Honestly the worst thing the INC ever did besides selling away the country in 1991 was when Indira Gandhi gave up emergency powers in 1977 instead of maintaining a state of emergency till 2000 as Lee Kuan Yew begged her to do. I think someone estimated that if the forced sterilisation campaign that went on during the emergency continued on till 2000 the population here would be around 800 million instead of 1.4 billion.
Traditional Indian architecture lacks subtlety, a new style must develop first.
