C is an excellent choice for security relevant systems software because the issues for developing in C are well understood and can easily be mitigated by following 30 years worth of best practice patterns and using the correct development tools.

The issue is developers are not using the tools or following the best practices because they think they know better than 30 years worth of experience or get caught up in bikeshedding about ideology, licenses and which line the curly braces go on.

That, or you could just use a language which does not have the issues in the first place.

Boomers are living proof that decades of experience mean nothing when your entire generation is just moronic.

With that said, there is sadly still no language that can fully replace C.

C used to be ok, but the standard and compiler devs worked together to frick it over permantly, now C cannot be trusted. Code that works fine today could be completly broken tomorrow depending on the whims of compiler devs in how they interpret the flawed standard.

      >C is an excellent choice for security relevant systems software
"security relevant" = buggy and backdoored
      >because the issues for developing in C are well understood
"well understood" = will never be fixed
      >following 30 years worth of best practice patterns
      "best practice patterns" = don't use C
      >and using the correct development tools.
"correct development tools" = anything but C
