As it should be, a choice for the user to make. It certainly isn't a crime.

    It's for normies.
    >normie creates non-copyable PDF
    >open it in Okular
    >OMG Linux is so shit you can't create non-copyable PDFs

Same reason you can disable editing of booked transactions in Gnucash. Normies don't understand that as long as something is on your computer you can edit it. Most commercial book keeping applications just store the transactions in an sql database on your computer and the limitation to not edit transactions is entirely artificial but try to explain that to the tax office.

I read on the Gnucash mailing list of people recommending to disable transaction editing when you get an audit and enable it again when it's over kek.

Do accountant types really think the shit in accounting software is trustable? If they do, it’s no wonder accounting fraud happens so often

They believe it's the ultimate source of truth. Somehow they are still able to rationalize away the fact that when they have database inconsistencies or bugs and they send their database to the developers for a fix, they get back a fixed database which was edited by the developers.
They also rationalize away the ability to back up and restore databases.

They completely forgot that double entry bookkeeping was originally done with quill and paper and it wasn't done for the benefit of the tax office.

        Yes.
Software is never at fault, it's the person's fault. Put them in prison.

i don't have a preference, both seem like good software with recent releases. I think you can even easily switch between the two with the same data. hledger is just what I happened to try first.

I hate DRM so goddamn much, so much money wasted in making everything slightly shittier to appease investors was a mistake.

So why is it when we need real political change, it gets drowned out in culture war bullshit and /misc/troon screeching?
I actually agree. We need to end the DMCA so why isn't this more a public, single-issue voting topic?

because /misc/ tards are too stupid to see their real enemy are the rich
