Do black people not know about changing 9v batteries? I'm so confused. Not being racist, legitimate question. Are they not concerned about their houses catching fire?

The apartment next to mine has been vacant for over four months at this point but this thing still keeps me up at night. What can I realistically do to fix this besides sleep with earplugs?

      Anonymous

Break into the apartment and replace the batteries.
Or call the fire department and tell them the landlord isn't taking proper fire safety precautions. Depending on your country that might just work, in Germany I know they're mental about fire safety.

Wrong. It's not powering the tiny nuclear detector. A piezo beep takes like 0.3v, the nuclear detector takes 8.4v. if it's beeping it dropped below 8.5v and your life is at risk.

Shitty interface design. The frick does "chirp" even mean? Maybe it means "operating normally". Speak in human language, motherfricker. Add a little LED with "change battery" written next to it.

So why do they make carbon monoxide detectors that install on your ceiling when carbon monoxide is slightly denser than regular air? Seems like an oversight to me.

      Anonymous

Common household smoke detectors aren't carbon monoxide detectors. They use infrared light and a sensor to measure the intensity of the light inside of the detector. This is why a steam or dust can set off a smoke detector.

      Anonymous

some carbon monoxide sensors are designed to be plugged into a wall outlet, exactly for that reason. but as the other anon said the chirp isn't from those.

Some are hardwired in, as it's mandatory in certain states. You have to shut off the main breaker.
