You’re moving the goalpost. Regardless, the North Sea empire lasted less than 30 years and got cucked by Harold Godwinson.

            >got cucked by Harold Godwinson.
No it collapsed after Cnut's death. Also, Angevin empire was a French empire anyways

Harold Hardrada would’ve reinstated it but was fairly beaten. But even if you want to say that didn’t count, it ended with Harthacnut’s death.
            >French empire anyways
Irrelevant to what we’re talking about: we’re talking about other English Kings controlling wealthier and larger empires, specifically Henry II. Just accept you were wrong.

            >we’re talking about other English Kings
            """English""" kings

Okay, consider Henry V as well. He spoke English as his first language and effectively controlled all of France and it only feel apart upon his death as well. Englishness, in its modern sense, actually began emerging with the start of the Hundred Years’ War. If you’re applying the same logic to Cnut’s empire, then it should be applied to Henry V’s empire and his empire was bigger and wealthier, and better.
            But also the
            >”””English”””
thing is actually moronic. No one serious has that take. The nobility of England distinguished themselves from nobles still in France within a couple generations.
            >they spoke French
All of Europe’s nobility did. Did you know that Robert the Bruce spoke fluent French? I guess Scotland was actually a French realm.

Cope, after the normans conquered England, most of the kings spoke french
            >emerging with the start of the Hundred Years’ War.
            Literally a french civil war

            >nothing refuting Henry V
I’ll take that as a concession.
            >french civil war
Not even close. These are like Reddit level takes. If we take your logic, then the Scottish Wars of Independence were just French civil wars.
And I was being too autistic to even think about this anon’s point
If the Plantagenets don’t qualify as English Kings, Cnut sure as hell doesn’t.

Cuz I didn't say all the norman kings spoke french
            >then the Scottish Wars of Independence were just French civil wars.
don't know anything about that but if it involved french kings fighting french speaking former vassals then sure

England wasn't a vassal of France though.

England still wasn't a vassal under the Normans though. Normady was subject to the French Crown but England wasn't.

Well yeah, you misunderstood me. England was never a vassal but the Normandy was

England paid taxes to the Norman rulers, the Norman rulers paid taxes to the king of France. Not that hard to figure out.

The relationship between the kings of France and England wasn’t so simple as vassal or former vassal. The identities weren’t as straight forward either. There were be English nobles who would say straight to your face that they were Englishmen while speaking French. Also, consider pic related.

Cnut’s Englishness is far, far more dubious than any of the Plantagenets.

Cnut killed his own brother to inherit Denmark. That's disgusting tbh.
