This reminds me of a joke
A physicist is reading a newspaper, and he sees an article about the latest development in nuclear technology. He reads along, amused, and thinks to himself "who do they get to write this shit? None of it is even close to accurate and I can't believe it got past editing." With a satisfied chuckled, he finishes the article.
The physicist then turns the page, and is awed by the amount of care and attention they put into politics, sports, and policy. He thinks to himself "Wow! This editor really knows his stuff! They did a great job researching all this!" and buys another paper the day after.

The key isn't to read Michael's misspelled retelling and quoted version of events but to follow his sources and read those since he's kind enough to link to all the git repos and LKML posts.
Gell-mann amnesia effect has no bearing here, Mr. Crichton.

Neat, never knew the name. Thanks anon.
But if you're just following the sources, you may as well just do hackernews links while ignoring all the comments (the only real way to read HN)

AVX 512 wasn't taken seriously until very recently when AMD came out with Zen 4 so it'll be a while before all the good devs warm up to it again. Most of the serious buisness gains outside of AI seem to be focused on console emulation at the moment.

According to pissmark, the 7800X3D should be 30% slower than the i9-14900K in single core performance.

You know what really sucks though? Even with all these ebin CPU advancements we still can't hit 60 FPS in a 2010 PS3 game. That said PS3 probably ran this particular game at 30 FPS so it's not like there's 0 progress.

I have new content. It would appear that a 7950X is now obliterating an i9-14900K in BLENDER. The days of AVX 512 being relegated to AI and console emulation seem to now be over.

Do you think intel will release an i9-14900KYS soon?

It's much better to have performance-crippled AVX-512 than to not have it at all. Fragmentation sucks.

Not anymore, intel is now officially getting raped in blender because of AVX 512, see my post above you, I missed you by like 10 seconds. AV1 hardware decoding support isn't where it should be for phones but at least software decoding has improved so much that even the most bottom of the barrel CPU from 10 years ago should be able to decode 120 FPS 1080p AV1 video by now.

When is AMD fixing the AMDip? I want to give AMD money but they refuse to fix the problems they have with the 1% lows in gaming.

2 MORE WEEKS FOR AVX-512 IN PC GAMES. TRUST THE PLAN.

Intel better hope it stays mostly a meme. Even a 10% FPS increase on AMD CPUs would be absolutely catastrophic for them. That said AMD would really be doing everyone a solid if they would release a dual-core Zen 4 desktop CPU for ~$60 and chipsets that allow for sub-$100 motherboards. They're completely abandoning us poorgays in their glory.

What made you become the AMD biased version of userbenchmark?
Did Intel take a piss in your cereal bowl one day?
