DaVinci Resolve Free Version

So this video editing software is shit right? It keeps crashing on me whenever I try to render a simple 7 min 1080 video. My PC specs are GTX 1660ti, i7-9750 processor, and my system has 16 gb of ram. I meet all the system requirement so I have no idea why the software keeps crashing. Can anyone please recommend me some other free video editing software.

Black person i don't know why you're having problems i'm not your tech support just download ae or vegas or whatever i'm just laughing at you for calling one of the industry standard editors shit because your shitty toaster with 10 years old drivers and who knows what else can't render some video without crashing

ya but I'm not trying to render anything insane here, and my specs meet the system requirements. If I was trying to render something in 4k, I would get why it crashes but I'm only rendering in 1920x1080

System requirements mean the minimum specs required to run the software, it doesn't mean you will be able to do anything you want. This also goes for any other editor out there. I would assume it's most likely a GPU issue, but you didn't provide nearly enough information to do even a simple diagnostic.

        >see how hot the GPU gets
        this can trigger automatic crashes
        >check the TDR delay
windows can crash the process if it believes the GPU is stuck
        >see if your PSU can handle your GPU at max load
games will throttle the GPU to prevent crashes so being able to play games doesn't mean anything, that GPU handholding doesn't exist in resolve
        >make sure you've got enough VRAM
        >etc

As a test, you can try rendering to an intermediate format like ProRes that's easier on the GPU since you're not heavily encoding the video (encode the video once it's been rendered as a prores), and you can try reducing the render speed setting in resolve, to load fewer frames onto the GPU at the same time.

that's the thing, I checked GPU and CPU usage and it seemed fine.

No idea. You can check logs, etc.
But I think you'll be better off using a more consumer friendly program. No offense but you're not really Resolve's target user. AE and Premiere for example have support for Media Encoder which has a lot of that kind of handholding I mentioned. They do tons of tweaks and optimizations to make sure everyone can render video without having to get down to the hardware level. Honestly I like to b***h about Adobe but their work is nothing short of amazing, they're just a kinda shitty company but they have some talented engineers. I assure you that you will not have crashes at 1080p

+1 for adobe stuff. Don't pay their absurd rates though, just pirate it like a sane person.

Its because you’re gay anon. homosexualry leads to crashes.

It'd literally the industry standard lol. It works flawlessly on Macs, even Airs, but the Linux install is only stable if you have stuff like pulseaudio and gtk/qt installed. I have a minimal install with just X and a WM and it works, although it doesn't seem to like using ALSA directly. On Windows it's hampered by all the other crap runing and freqently freaks out when saving/opening files.
