different man installs windows 7 on ideapad

I did it. I got Windows 7 running on the Ideapad 120S-14IAP. They did everything to stop me from doing it but I did.
>add celeron n3350's specific xhci controller id to driver .inf file for usb3.0
>make slipstreamed iso with it and unsigned drivers allowed
>install to vm
>change bootdriverflags to 4 in registry
>change drivers start value in registry to 0 and add bootflags = 4
>bootloader can only see its own partition so unable to load usb3 drivers, follow guide to move bootloader over to windows partition and delete original bootloader partition
>convert vm to raw and dd to usb
>boot with legacy mode
The touchpad doesn't work despite supposedly having a driver and even .inf editing did nothing. And the intel hd 500 never got a 7 or 8.1 driver despite being from 2015. inf editing definitely isn't gonna help with that one.

    >having to do 100x more tinkering than on linux
Using Windows 7 is a mental illness.

I don't use 7 as a daily driver and once 10 hits end of life I'm switching to Linux. This was for fun. It wasn't fun.

What did you expect? Tinkering with an unsupported version of Windows is never a fun experience.

          Yes it is.
But slipstreaming and waiting for usbs to flash repeatedly isn't.

eh, I prefer this content to endless babby OS arguments. its kinda stupid but at least the guy seems like he knows what he is doing.

I don't really, I just learned this stuff in this process, it took a few days.

yeah, I know what you mean. moreso you followed the correct order of operations for an interesting post. ie do something -> post about it with details.

better than linux versus windows versus mac slop or whatever other garbage is shitting up the board. have a bump.

I know of a guy that got 10th gen i3 display drivers working with 7 without much frickery surely this can be made to work too

Good job. Don't listen to these morons, if you stay mostly offline there is no problem at all using an old Windows, especially if you want to run Windows software that don't run in Wine. And it keeps the shitty laptop from going to the garbage.

Why don't you just buy a new computer and use 11?

his neighbor gave him this dogshit laptop to fix and anon has spent the last week and a half trying to force win7 to work on it, something nobody asked him to do but he thinks will work better

Unless his neighbour absolutely must run some windows-only abandonware them why would he just give linux a try? Zorin looks allmost like Windows, there are also plenty of themes for KDE or XFCE to make it look like deadshitos.

For the millionth time this isn't a daily driver, this is for the sole purpose of fun and seeing if it's possible + squeezing more performance out of this garbage laptop (which I have now hit a wall with, since there are no gpu drivers only the base operating system is faster than 10. Can't play any games). I use 10 on my actual computer, and plan to switch to Debian once that hits EoL.
Babyduckposting is also mental illness and I wouldn't be surprised if it's one guy.

It wasn't to fix, he just gave me 2 of them because they were babbys first laptop and his kids stopped using them.

Is there any foolproof way of blocking everything except manually approved programs in the firewall?

Any idea how he did it? I seriously doubt it would work because of WDDM2.0. The HD 510 driver didn't work after forcing it to install despite the similar architecture.
