No, if anything it is better for your eyes than regular screens because the focal point is much further away.

No I just wonder about how it'd work and thought I'd ask the high IQ board about it, the tranime is because as far as I'm aware posts with pics get more responses. Posting tranime isn't a requirement but it is what I store the most in any case

            self destruction?

        >Does using a veheadset make you go shortsighted?
There's no reason to think so.
VR is fairly new and there hasn't been that much research about potential long-term effects, but there's no obvious reason it would contribute to refractive error.
Headsets do tend to have the same warnings that the 3DS etc had- basically "don't let young kids play with stereoscopic stuff in case the unnatural discrepancy between accommodation and convergence somehow fricks around with the normal development of their stereo vision".

        >how is the focal point further away if the screen is glued to your eyes?
Lenses can change the focal distance of an image. It seems like a weird idea at first if you aren't familiar with optics, but it's not really so different from prescription glasses or a microscope.
Most VR headsets aren't truly focussed at infinity, but they're at least a couple metres out- further than most people would place a monitor.
