File Picker

>no thumbnails
>can't preview gifs/videos
>no navigation history, can't move to previous/next directories (alt+left/right in most file managers)
>you deselect a file by either pressing ctrl+click or by changing directory
>when saving a file, if you click another file it will replace the name of the file you want to save without being able to revert it back
is it me? am i asking for the moon here? i don't care about buggy drivers or whatever, i just want a file picker worth its name...please..

Stop using GTK-based desktop environments, lxqt and KDE don't have this problem.

come here, my fellow sister UWU. Since KDE uses QT, it has full support for thumbnails in the file picker.

You winshills need to update your memes because none of this is true anymore. Stuff like thumbmails and preview has been working for 10-15 years at least. For that fact I know you don't actually use linux but just want to shill your irrelevant poojeetOS

        nta
also same thing when choosing a file for upload but preview moves to the right.
If you want something 1:1 like windows, then dolphin does that.

          >also same thing when choosing a file for upload but preview moves to the right.
It's not the same thing. You see all previews instead of just the one you select. Unless you name your files appropriately beforehand you could have a harder time anyways because you'd have to keep going down a list to see a preview. It'd be quicker to open up a file manager window and dragging the picture from there than using the file picker at that point.
GNOME sort of worked with this but it turns out you need to go and generate thumbnails first. Plasma is the only way you get a decent file picker (without a search function)

I usually name important stuff and search it up instead of scrolling honestly. Dolphin is the best one for sure, but I've been using nemo for a while and I'm kind of used to it.
