8 is better because it has memory tagging but also it has the spook google mesh network with always on low power bluetooth (thanks google)
dont know if its possible to disable that, it runs even when powered off
i would have waited for the mandatory eu hotswappable batteries and see what comes from that

When the phone is powered off? Also, how would that run with no Google Play Services installed and the compatibility layer disabled by default?

Its stupid easy, follow the directions.

After that, its basically just android. I've been using sandboxed google apps, and its been okay because it was easy. Is anyone else on Graphene running sandboxed or do you guys use some other implementation?

          fdroid has only foss apps
for maximum security you should git clone and compile on qubes os workstation you only need like 3 apps anyways

Seems like this is about to be Encro all over again.
I understand the need for such OS's (for individuals such as whistleblowers, journalists, etc.) but the thing that bothers me is those who would download such an OS off of the internet are usually concerned with security but literally handing their security over to the trust of a entity they know absolutely nothing about. its like saying you don't trust the bank so you take out all your money and give it to a random stranger on the streets for "safe keeping".

so your opinion is just as ignorant and stupid as the OP who doesn't realize how much Graphene is Encro.

Are you confusing Encrochat with Anom? Encrochat was messenger app that had it's Dutch servers hacked by law enforcement. Anom was a Trojan OS installed on Google Pixel 3 and 4 devices and distributed by the AFP and FBI to targeted individuals.
Neither of these is the same as GrapheneOS.

been daily driving it on a 7a too.
honestly, it's just Android without google, nothing too different.
the only thing I've had problems with was Uber (even with the sandboxed gapps shit) it was still functional but just wouldn't pick up the exact location for some reason.
other than location being somewhat problematic at times for some reason (it has been my entire time using ungoogled android) and basically any open source map apps is just NOT the same level as google maps, it wouldn't bee so different than normal android

what do you use for navigation?

I barely go outside, and I mostly already have all the streets in my city memorized (small town) to the point I don't need anything for navigation.
better ask someone else about it

Never again falling for this garbage.
I'd try graphene but I'm not going to pay more than 200€ for a phone, and pixels cost more, at least those that aren't old and almost out of support. I'm not some zoomie kid that wants the latest phone model to show off in class, I just want a phone that does the needful and I want to keep using it until it literally falls apart.
I thought lineage was the answer, but I was wrong.

The first week is fricking annoying. SMS wasn't working at all for me. Had to mess around with all the setting in the SMS app to finally get it working. Lots of little things won't work out of the box. You basically have to enable most Google services to have a working phone. Google maps crashes a lot too for some reason.
    T. Pixel 7a user, have been using GraphOS for about a year now.
