for me it's window server 2022, it's as fast as win8 and you can use either start menu of 7 style or 8 full screen
8 is the fastest window because its for embedded systems, this is why auto repair shop machines, ATM's etc are still running windows xp, newer shit runs 8, hospital equipment runs 8

Windows 7 will NEVER die!!! And before you snap back at me, consider the following:

Windows 7 nailed it. Aero with its glass transparency effects was a visual treat. It made the desktop feel more alive compared to the more sterile, flat designs of 8/10. Plus, those window animations and the way they minimized to the taskbar? Pure class. Then there's the whole vibe of Windows 7. It's like that cozy coffee shop you keep going back to. It's familiar, comfortable, and doesn't try to be something it's not. Unlike Windows 8, which felt like it was having an identity crisis with its split between desktop and the whole Metro UI, Windows 7 knew exactly what it was, a DESKTOP OS. Windows 10 and 11 dropped the ball. The introduction of the Windows Store and those god awful “modern” apps in Windows 10 just cluttered the experience. Windows 7 kept it simple. No forced app stores, no bloatware, just pure, unmolested desktop OS perfection. Let's not forget the start menu. Windows 7’s start menu was the perfect balance of functionality and simplicity. Then came Windows 8, throwing that all out the window with a garbage Fisher Price full-screen start menu that felt more like a billboard than a functional feature. Sure, Windows 10 tried to bring back the classic start menu, but it never quite captured the straightforward charm of Windows 7's. Windows 7 represents a time when operating systems were more about facilitating your work and less about pushing app stores and cloud services (See: AI Bing bullshit). It's like that reliable old car that never lets you down – sure, it might not have all the fancy new features, but it gets the job done without any fuss. And sometimes, that's all you really need. It’s all anyone needs.

How can you possibly think that your deadshitos is faster than modern, up to date Windows version?

        Anonymous

Are you just being a moron for fun right now? Any speed 10/11 has can exclusively be associated to the mass adoption of SSDs. That's it, on the whole it's slower than it's ever been because it's more and more of a Frankenstein system every release but modern hardware advancements are carrying it. Which by the way, MS is going to start over-relying on and making their newer releases even more bloated

For how many more months/years? You better have old parts stored up because you won't be able to find W7 ethernet drivers for new mobos, and your performance will start to suck with new CPUs and GPUs. Programs will also start to drop support, I'm sure chrome and FF will stop getting security updates and may even block internet access. You're better off jumping to a minimalist linux distro that support GTK2 for the best of all worlds.

      >FF will stop getting security updates and may even block internet access.
      No that won't fricking happen.

I could use Firefox on Windows XP if I wanted to, right NOW.

You couldnt since cloudflare and other CDNs will block 99% of your requests. This is because firefox no longer ships updates to XP. And the same will happen with 7 by the end of 2024 because the last ESR firefox version that officially supported Windows 7 will die. So you will either update or enjoy your abandonware completely offline.

Try to install XP on bare metal and then install the proper internet drivers for your mobo and then install FF or chrome and see how many certificate errors and how many "Sorry, you must update" messages you get while browsing for ten minutes.

I have all the drivers offline. I also have the offline program installers none of the "bootstrapper" types that download from online with their 1MB exe file. No it's the full offline installers

            My mobo is Nonya.

As in, Nonya business. Stop strawmanning, do you have any idea how many Windows 3.1 systems can technically be booted up and used? Not that anyone would go online with them due to nobody having dialup BUT if someone really REALLY wanted to, they can still connect to an ISDN.

Since the first message I'm telling you that it's not sustainable because the supported hardware for older systems is fading away, so you should put your time and effort into a long-term solution instead. In ten years you won't be using XP or 7, so your options are move on to another system or spend a few years using them, have your system fail or lose access to internet/vital programs and then be forced onto something else without preparation.
