Windows 8 flopped hard and so the age of Aero didn't really end until 2015.

Windows 7 is literally peak zoomer. 2009 is when most zoomers started learning how to use computers. Most would be in primary school then.

I can't rewind the clock man. I wish I could go back and do high school right, I wish I paid attention in school and I wish I cared about the people around me more. I have so many regrets, I want to go back but I can't I have to accept what I have, and that is what I spent my time on, the nostalgia that I had experienced, it is an anchor to my sanity. I wake up and feel bad some days, then I hop on my computer and feel SOVL through my monitor and now I feel good again. I move towards what I am passionate about and that is what keeps me going. It helped me realize that I can't move with my life with regret, that I need to do things now that me in 2028 will be "damn, I wish I did this 4 years ago" just like I am now by saying: "damn, I wish I did this 8 years ago" for 2016. Then 2016 will become 12 years by then. I have to save myself from future regret, or else there will only be my own mind assulating me daily, and there is only so much I can take. That is why I appreciate Frutiger Aero. It makes me recognize not to let my regret fester once again. I must take control of my life and not waste time. I must be productive.

I'm 28 (not sure if that counts as zoomer) and imo this was the best aesthetic we had for tech.
There's just something nice and comforting about seeing water, animals, bright aspirations of the future, etc.
I don't mind the previous y2k aesthetic either, but it feels kind of boring to me. I personally like things being more lively and appealing to look at.

also it wasn't just tech either now that I think about it. You had products/interiors of buildings, etc. all designed with a nice colorful aesthetic that gave you hope.
Now everything is dull and boring.

the oldest zoomers are in their mid-20's. windows 7 came out in 2009. i'm not denying many are exaggerating their nostalgia and even bullshitting, but just wanted to point that out.

zoomers correctly recognize that it was the last remaining period of 90s End of History optimism and hope for western civilization, when consumer tech was still advancing every month and it seemed like it would lead to a cyber utopia and not our current dystopian death spiral

I'm blind from bleeding so much seeing this shitstyle. Why does that even exist, who asked for this, literally nobody asked for this

I think nostalgia is moving too fast. I remember 70s nostalgia wasn't that long ago. Then 80s lasted a while too. Then 90s nostalgia went by too fast and we're already at early stages of 2000s nostalgia! Does anyone else feel like by the end of the year we'll be at last breakfast nostalgia?

Sentimentality aside, this is objectively better visual design. Gradients and highlights are far more legible than abstract monochromatic symbols.
