A well placed rock can kill literally anything. A sling in the right hands may as well have been a gun.

Same way Africans and Eurasians did to elephants, just chase it and annoy it till it keels over due to heat stroke and keep hitting it with sticks and big rocks for a few hours. It will be an immensely long dragged out death taking hours to days to finally succumb but as long as you terrorize it all the while its own body will begin to give out.

it might have been less human activity and more changes in the enviroment made it less favorable for them to be frick huge

Pretty much always this, animals are dumb and 99.9% of the time they will die off by not leaving their traditional feeding range as climate change comes in, most animals that survive this are just ones who happened to have naturally spread out to areas least affected.

Humans have the ability to verbalize, retain and pass on useful ideas and strategies. that alone is a more valuable adaptation for hunting than literally every other predatory adaptation in existence

      >throw lots of spears
How the frick do you effectively throw a spear? I don't know if anyone here knows, and even if you do know, it might be difficult to explain, but I feel completely certain that if I tried to throw a spear, it would just flop awkwardly and make me look moronic. Does anyone know the trick?

By practicing? Humans are very good at throwing things and handling projectile weapons in general. Just because a modern out of shape office worker can't throw a spear worth a damn doesn't mean an experienced hunter-gatherer wasn't lethal with one.

You don't even particularly need to be in good shape. Obviously muscles help a lot but any healthy adult human can throw a javelin at least.

I set myself up for this reply, but for real if anybody here can properly throw a spear I'd be impressed.

They're throwing spears, they're aerodynamic and made to be thrown. Can't be that much more difficult than throwing a ball, they certainly don't flop awkwardly (too rigid for that).

I mean they were a massive target and not exactly fast
Humans would have just driven them to exhaustion

Exactly. It makes no sense. My theory is that Atlanteans hunted them to extinction. A pointy rock on a stick can't do nearly the same damage that the weapons Atlantis presumably possessed could.
