And files give girls the 'ick

They have available API for ads, that's his point if I understood the corporatespeak correctly.

I mean... Can you read? It's there in the screenshot. Those ads are under podcast owner control. If they decided to run them, they run them.
That's like complaining about a youtuber putting sponsorship in their videos and blaming youtube for it and not the channel.

            Anonymous

So what if it's podcast owner's control? I pay spotify to not listen to ads, spotify gives him a cut. Therefor I pay him for not having ads.
Spotify should forbid any sort of paid promotions on their platform just like youtube should. They got it marked on youtube, they can forbid it. Or provide some sort of built-in in-house sponsorblock for paying users.
I pay, I don't listen to ads, it's not that hard. The problem is that they don't give me an option to remove it completely but advertise it as such.

What is this? I don't know how Spotify is on this but does it actually work? Google tends to favor the more popular track (and heavily promotes female and black artists, and copyright free joid) So how come spotify does it better? If at all? I frankly don't believe it. Google started promoting AI music to me recently. Whenever your'e on YT the algorithm decides you want to listen to a track with 5 times the amount of views of your previous track, so by 6-7 ladders up the algorithm you're back to top 40 garbage.

How can an algorithm actually know what music you like unless it literally breaks down music and categorizes it by bpm, and instruments? By chord-progression? I don't understand it when people say they listen to an algorithm. I just have never seen it work. Do these people not exist?

I just use pajeet youtube premium, it's less than 10 dollars a year (you can also get the family plan, add in friends or family and tell them to pay the proportional part, which goes down to like 2 or 3 dollars a year per person I think?) also lets you upload your own files to their servers, whilst having a recommendation algorithm that's pretty good

I have never once gotten popular or mainstream music recommended by YTMs algorithms lol, guess it depends how much you've used it.

idk how spotify does it but ytm will show you several songs in the main page, usually ones you already know + some similar to those and then you can start a "radio" of a specific song where it will have an infinite playlist of songs similar in style to that one, works pretty good at least for me.

        Anonymous

        >I have never once gotten popular or mainstream music recommended by YTMs algorithm
I refuse to believe this. Here I did another test myself. Went from the first two songs listed there (Millgrinder and Ecstasy) to a song with 300k views by a FEMALE artist. So I went up a thousand fold in just the span of two songs. Competently unrelated musically to what I just listened to. It's so unrelated that I refuse to believe any algorithm even had a look at it other than an advertisement-algorithm that just gets me back into the mainstream of shit they want to sell to you, but looking further down the line it was gonna recc me the Beatles and Pink Floyd. So I'm just gonna say you're lying and have yet to be proven wrong.

          >4th song

          >5th song
Black and female (the algorithm pushes this)
          >6th song
          generic filler music
          >7th song

          >8th song
most mainstream band you can think of
          >9th song
I wouldn't know frankly if good or not, but it is using the name of the band, rather than an algorithmic connection based on analyzing the song, and you'd have to go past the beatles and pink floyd to get there.

So you aren't even bothering to refute my case. You're just calling it a fairly normal pop song.

Anime related jpop songs are all mainstream. Vocaloid songs are all called vocaloid in their title. There's no algorithm. The picture you've externally linked for some reason, you know like you can attach images to your post. Are all in the 100k to several million in views.

I wasn't trying to refute anything, I don't even know any of the songs you mentioned, if they're related or not or what you even like.
I'm just saying that in my case it recommends stuff I like or at least it's somewhat close to what I'm listening, if I'm listening to jpop it won't randomly plop in american pop, hip hop or any shit like that is what I want to say.

that is your problem: you listen to music like a zoomer. adults tries new things out just for the hell of it and reads up on via dedicated mags/books/blogs. i'd never thought in a million years i would enjoy bluegrass, but someone suggested i should try out j.d. crowe & the new south, so i downloaded an album through soulseek and really digged it. that is something completely outside what i usually listen to, and had i been on spotify, the algorithm would have never suggested that to me because it's moronic and can't draw outside the lines.
