    Gnome was founded by a Microsoft employee to sabotage Linux and to discourage anyone from creating an alternative by it's sheer size. It took system76 with a team of devs and thousands of dollars to finally topple it and create a working alternative.

      >Microsoft is destroying Linux with systemd and gnome
      At what point do these schizo ideas start making sense?

        the guy who made systemd is literally a micro$hit employee

          The guy who made systemd became a Microsoft employee. Big difference there.

            no there isn't
            and now he has his microshit coworkers commenting on threads telling people that systemd literally deleting home isn't a big deal

            not really.
            poettering is a piece of shit and systemd is a tumor by design.

            deletes /home because the default config says it's a tmpfile

      Gnome was perfectly decent until v3, that is when the sabotage of the linux desktop began.

    GTK file picker is literally not nautilus, whoever wrote this is a mongoloid.

    file pickers have nothing to do with the desktop
    of course a gtk program is going to show the gtk file picker, a qt program will show the qt file picker, a javafx program will show the javafx file picker, and so on..
    the same thing happens on windows and macos too btdesu

      no, dumb Black person, on windows every fricking program that interfaces with win32 delegates that to CID which is Common Item Dialog on Vista+ and GetOpenFileName common boxes on XP and below. If that wasn't the case then firefox and it's forks, chromium/electron and it's forks, qt (surprise, surprise, qt DOES delegate to CID on windows), wx, even fricking tkinter delegates to CID.

      To anyone that wants full windows filepicker without any bullshit on linux install xdg-desktop-portal-lxqt and force those two envs in:
      # /etc/environment
      GTK_USE_PORTAL=1
      GDK_DEBUG=portals

      I maintain my own wine patches so that it opens filepicker through this same portal, but I won't share it, because freetards needs to suffer.

    What's the use case?

      >want to send image on IQfy
      >gtk only displays shit as small unrelated icons to the image so you have to click one by one from the filepicker to know which image is which

      >want to go to another folder
      >cant use the folder as a "website" link, so instead you have to click folder by folder until you are at the folder you want then you gotta deal with the bullshit from icons

      >inb4 just drag&drop bro

      why have a filepicker at all if it's garbage?
