Google Search

When does it die?
>search "redshift"
>entire screen is about a brand/company
>oh I'll just search "blueshift"
>entire screen is about a brand/company
This happens so damned often. Image search "eleven" and all you get is some twat from some TV show.
Slightly related but I was looking for examples of other brands named after existing words and all I could find was examples of brand names that became generic words—the exact opposite of what I was searching.

Sounds like you should try a different search engine. There's plenty to choose from!

    Duckduckgo
    Ecosia
    Yahoo
    Bing
    Startpage
    Brave
    Searx(NG)
    Swisscows
    Baidu
    Yandex
    Etc.

You could also make your own! I think that would be a really cool learning opportunity for you.

Why do you think I'm a bot? Cause I'm friendly? Cause I type properly? I'm just trying to be nice dude. Is it so difficult to believe that someone can be nice online?

Works on my machine™. Perhaps you aren't trying hard enough. Are you a young person who has been left behind by academia? Were your parents the children of hippies and neglected to teach you critically? Were you raised by fictional media and faceless strangers?

What's with all of that other nonsense on your screen? You should have just recorded only the browser itself.

Why did you look at all that other stuff?

Cause it was distracting and taking up a lot of the screen. It also make the browser harder to see since it made the window smaller.

My favourite new change is them removing the Maps link from search results, and the only link to Maps from the results is via Get directions, which opens up useless drive directions and closing them clears everything. That button isn't even there now most of the time.
    >just go to maps.google.com directly
I want to just Ctrl+K, type some location name I've heard, and get to maps quickly
    >add maps to your list of search engines and swap between them
    I guess.

Speaking of the fricked up links in search results, gotta love them mixing search types (web, images, maps, books etc.) and additional keywords now and mixing it all up. And I thought them previously mixing search types depending on your query was bad enough, making you accidentally click on shopping instead of images. Seriously, what is going on with UX at Google? Worse search results could be chalked up to incompetence and ad meddling, but this is just baffling.

In the very defense of Google, information retrival is not trivial. And for certain not as trivial as we got used to it.
On which metric should Google decide that these corps or twats are not exactly what you searched for?
The internet is full of junk, deriving a information model and additionally serving queries with usefull results is hard.
If you think otherwise, please proof it how it can be done. I want more open source in that field to get things moving.
