To make a local account, you can either use the OOBE method, or just disconnect internet, they can't stop you from making an account just because you aren't connected. OOBE works the most consistently, tho.

Of course it works, if you didn't know about why then how are you SO SURE there's no way to make a local account on S? I did it literally last night by staying offline.

Maybe you just don't know how it works?

Either way it's a moot point because you can boot the drive up in troubleshooting mode before you set it up and remove the S restriction. literally zero MS account required.

Anon this is literally the way most IT people get out of S mode now. They can't just use their Microsoft accounts because it's not their computer.
            >because i know youre lying about the next part
Nah, that's not true m8. OOBE is a requirement for businesses, so they can't just not give people a way to use it, even with S mode. You have to run an elevated shell first, like in recovery mode.

Also he could have had 21H2 which allowed you to bypass locally if you were offline, still.

            >Not sure such a small study is saying much, besides the conclusion is just more communication/transparency, not not-spying.

The conclusion was made by MBAs who ignored the data and settled on more-spying being the solution. The real world results is that someone looking over your shoulder, all of the time, has always been a known factor in ruining productivity. That's where the concept of micro management came from.

The AI is an even less transparent version of a manager. You can't even talk to the one on the desktop monitoring you and ask what it's recording.

            >that someone looking over your shoulder, all of the time, has always been a known factor in ruining productivity
Which is why it being more subtle and just offering a way to go back for the employer is better. You're not constantly dealing with some annoying timer or god-beware eye-tracking but there is still a comfy way to check on you.

Unless the boss is a micro-managing moron, some downtime and the likes should be expected too, so it's not like this means "you WILL input something every 10secs for 8h".

            Anonymous

            >Which is why it being more subtle
It's not 'more subtle' because it's effectively a security camera watching your screen all the time that hte employee now knows is there. If they didn't tell employees, it may not have an effect, but they're going to figure it out once they get reprimanded for opening Youtube once.

            Anonymous

It's more subtle in the sense that it doesn't constantly remind the employee about their wagie cage. After a bit you won't think about it.

            >reprimanded for opening Youtube once
That's down to the manager not being a moron.

            >That's down to the manager not being a moron.

Hence why nobody is going to go for this. It's like when corporate laptops shipped with VNC software so the Manager could 'keep tabs' on employees, Nothing has changed. They just added "With AI" to 20 year old technology.

It will still result in employees realizing their micromanaging boss is spying on them and thus using a personal device or their phone. We just went through this with Covid and remote workers

Sources say this is just plain misinfo. They collect a LOT OF SHIT and is effectively a keylogger if you use the Search feature if you don't opt out, but it's not literally anything.

The AI is dangerous because it IS literally anything, and it has context for what you are typing into the search bar and clicking on windows for. 10's telemetry, at most, is trying to serve you ads and personalization for ads to sell your data. An AI wouldn't need to do that, it's your personal big brother.

I genuinely hope the push for AI makes windows nigh unusable unless you spend hours ripping it apart.
I set up an 11S laptop last night and it was just four miserable hours of unlocking Home edition and then rooting out all of the software that ShutUp10++ didn't find. I know no normalgay will go through the process of doing esoteric shit like typing powershell scripts by hand so the OS didn't frick them by auto-updating and undoing all of their changes before they could finish the process.

I'm the resident tech support in my area (tbh I like doing it and helping out people who would otherwise get scammed by a service center) and the amount of Win11 issues I've been seeing is just horrible. And this is normal people who got swindled to upgrade to 11 because the layout of the upgrade screen is so moronic. Alas.

      or if Microsoft gets hacked.
Imagine the mountain of personal data they'll have on every user sitting in a server.
Just waiting for some rogue bad actor or state sponsored hacker team to break in and steal.

It's a very tempting target. It's very existence is a huge liability for Microsoft. They're shooting themselves in the leg with this one.
Their only hope is to desensitize everyone to this new level of hyper surveillance, but that can easily backfire and when it does Microsoft will become the symbol of this new surveillance. Again, shooting themselves.

It's like they like hurting themselves. Is Microsoft OK?

Notice how copilot pajeets can never explain why they need an AI integrated into their computer or what they're going to use it for? They're fricking everywhere, on every social media platform, now. They only say vague, meaningless shit like "This will reduce so much busywork" and "My productivity will skyrocket", but they'll never say what they're actually going to use it to do.

It's literally 1:1 the same street shitter playbook as when the Metaverse was going to be a thing. An entire tech bubble built off of something nobody can explain and no tech demo has ever proven is something anybody wants.

And the best shit of all? If you point this out, a brown skinned pajeet who's village doesn't even have indoor plumbing will call you a luddite.

I'm still not convinced it's bots and not pajeets, tbh. Pajeets are still way cheaper to run if you need large amounts of verification and captchas filled out, which every social media site has.

Even at their own job, AI would be lousy at it because of the roadblocks put into place.

          Anonymous

          >captchas filled out
... do you really think they need to fill captchas, when the owners of said social networks obviously have economic interests behind the very same products the shill bots promote that they are supposed to stop?

The only issue I have with Windows 11 is that you have to either pay (upgrade your Windows 11) to remove copilot once you've connected to the internet and updated your computer (you can block updates, but some things like drivers etc might not work off the bat as intended - I'm unsure if that was intentional or not), or already know a work around that doesn't require asking a search engine (at least at the time I looked into it.) If you tell copilot you want to remove it, it's sort of sassy and that makes it funny which is the only redeeming quality.

all OSes keep a log of operations and events in system logs for obvious reasons. your question shows that you don't belong in this board.

I sit at my Windows 14 PC in my NVIDIA housing cube. I live in Cube Rainbow20791. I have never seen any of my neighbors in person, but I can't remember the last time I looked at anything without the bright and shiny overlay of Tesla Vision Advance making the world look like that Minecraft theme I bought last year to be quirky. The chunky pixels make me smile.

Today while I was typing a reply to my transracial post-black colleague, amogus5, I found myself frustrated since they have not completed the report I requested 6 months ago. I typed out "you are a..." and my finger rested on the "N" key for approximately 4x the normal amount of time. SamsungWellnessMonitoring registered the lingering finger warmth on the "N" key and I was immediately locked out.

My vision augmentation blacked out and all I could see was a metal room with an angry black woman in a Microsoft T-shirt. She told me I had been logged for pre-racial angst and was sentenced to 48 hours of sensory deprivation. Before I could muster a response all feeling disappeared. I could not see, hear, smell, taste or feel. As I lingered in oblivion I thought back to the time I delayed in reporting my mother for using gendered language for nearly an hour, but somehow got away with it. I should have known then that I was a bad apple.

I pushed those thoughts aside and committed to be better. I would dutifully download a pro LGBT+ and BLM theme for my Tesla Vision Advance after my blackout period. I can't believe I let Microsoft down like this..
