        If you want to actually start with Greeks then read the Great Conversations by Robert Hutchins. It has a reading plan laid out for a brief overview as well as many essays on the western canon and how to approach it. Ie Plato builds on Homer and the playwrights, Aristotle builds on them, Dante and Montaigne builds on them, etc

            No just buy the book, it isnt that complex. All of renowned literalture has "hidden messages" you shouldnt spoil your enjoyment of a first read through by trying to decipher it all.

      No just buy the book, it isnt that complex. All of renowned literalture has "hidden messages" you shouldnt spoil your enjoyment of a first read through by trying to decipher it all.
