Pretty much. I used to work on cyber security gov contracts. The type of people that worked there were extremely insufferable with massively inflated egos but nothing to show of it. Like they have this air of grand delusion, as if they have personally made some massive contributions to all of technology, and then you work with them and it's like, all they've done is write some simple fuzzer in python. I'm so glad I left.

      >Started streaming where he pretends to be a game developper and gives shit takes about security to people who are computer illiterate and drink his cool aid
      >Tries to get some clout anytime it's possible, like in the recent apex legends hack in the middle of a tournament

Typical anon source, in their dreams.

his voice seems real from the interviews he's given

            Anonymous

His voice is pitch adjusted for clarity, its not fully synthetic and a ton of people do it too for podcasts and radio, but still not the real voice. I also think over time he got used to speaking from the stomach so in real life its much lower than the old clips suggest.

Switching your SSH port from TCP #22 to something other will stop 98% of automated, scripted SSH login bot attacks, and is, per se, security by obscurity and, evidently, works.
No, it won't stop a *determined* actor with his sights set on *(You)*, but to claim obscurity can't help in any way is plain wrong as well and anyone who says so is a moron parroting "cybersec" dogma.

Using a passwort that's not "password" (or "hunter2") is, per se, also security through obscurity.

people who act like security through obscurity isn't useful better not have mechanical locks on their doors. once someone knows their lock's pinout they can just file a blank to produce their own key and enter at will. here in reality we consider security a matter of managing the attacker's cost-benefit ratio and the time and effort that it takes to discover obscured information is a real and tangible cost that deters attackers

pki is in a sense security through obscurity.
it's just about finding the right key, the catch is you have to search literal ages to find the right key.
and by the time you find it, it will be changed.
just wondering is there real security after all, seems like the only kind of security people come up with is some sort of variation of obscurity.

what? all scripts check response to detect software and its version, no one is going to throw logins at https under 22

Log into a public facing server, run sudo last. Enjoy the show! Ever since I switched mine to be some other port the bot attacks stopped. It won't stop someone that knows what they are doing, but at least it stops a skiddie from getting in if a vulnerability is released and a patch isn't available yet
