      Repetition

The question was so broad and open, it could be taken in so many directions, but you chose to shut it off immediately with the most basic possible response.

          >How do animals reproduce
          >They frick. What, you want more? Do you think they don't frick? Reeeeeeee stop inquiring

Your question was more like "How do I get more animals?" to which the only answer can be "Get them to frick".

No-ones going to bother going into the specifics of chinchilla reproduction off of such a dumb broad question.

    By understanding and using it.
I know it's probably not the answer you want, but if you understand something at the level that you're able to explain it to someone new, you are more likely to remember it for a long time, than when you just memorize it, or know it somewhat.

We forget by design. Why? Because a lot of things we learned are basically nonsense, they are basically wrong. You need to be able to forget them, unless they are reinforced many times.

You can remember something at all times by learning where it is, and such knowledge comes from knowing where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation...

The truth is that you can't decide what will permanently stored inside your head and what will be forgotten quickly. At best, you may try to induce your brain to keep it for a long time. It can be done by lots of repetition.
Also, understanding where the result comes from also makes it easier to remember it. If the result just makes sense, then you're likely to remember the thing because anything else will just feel wrong. So one way to keep a result stored in your head is to make it into just common sense for you.
Btw, don't bother with memorization techniques. They're only useful for keeping large quantities of things in your memory for short periods of time,

I don't pretend that I am, but after writing 300 pages of solutions to the green Rudins, I'm not intimidated by any kind of analysis. Sometimes I'll revise a proof to make it more concise and make a record of the date in the Latex comments.

    1) conceptual framework to understand the subject
    2) fit that conceptual framework into your world view
    3) no memorization needed at all, as it becomes a natural heuristics for your brain
