Preposterous hogwash that inspires manchildren around the globe to continue to play with toys and watch cartoons. The very Bible verse it grapples with stands untouched by this absurd quote by its very wording.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. - 1 Corinthians 13:11

By not being “afraid of childishness” he goes against not only the spirit of the verse, but the exact wording of it as well. It is self defeating in that it argues that speaking as a child should not be feared, in direct moral objection to the same verse he speaks of. While simultaneously claiming it to be grown up to be childish, he claims in the same breath that he has also given up his desire to be grown up, an utter contradiction. If you have given up the desire to be grown up, what need do you have to try and convince the reader that your behavior is in fact that of the grown up kind?

Frick this insecure homosexual, he was a children’s fantasy novel writer who wrote about magic and talking badgers and apes. He was rightfully embarrassed of his profession and this quote is him coping with that.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.’ ” Mathew 18:1-3

        Seething

adulthood isn't a matter of having the right hobbies or interests. children can partake in those, but they'd still be children. it's a matter of being self-sufficient, both mentally and practically. if you have self-control, self-awareness, and self-confidence, those are the traits of an adult. and seething because other adults enjoy things you think they shouldn't violates at least two of those.

unironically, a 40yo who plays hide and seek with his buddies every thursday is more adult than a 40yo who would mald about them doing that

Look at this group of internet manchildren lmfao. How's the funko pop collection coming along boyos? Don't forget to post it on reddit when you're done lol

He's right but should specify to avoid _excessive_ fear of those things. Some reasonable fear can be productive to personal growth.

in early childhood (unless you have some really deep seated issues) you are totally secure and confident in yourself. as you age and learn more about the world around you that confidence lessens, and you break down your own self image in your self destructive adolescence. adulthood then becomes a matter of reclaiming that security and finding a way to be comfortable with oneself again.

If he feared childish things as a child, then what childish things could he possibly have had to put away? What separates the childish things to put away compared to the childish things to hold onto? Is there really anything concrete that can be read from this quote? No. So why is it here wasting our time?
