Would have an hero'd by now, but for some reason they've been paying for me to get IT certificates over the past few months, so after my next one I'm quitting and going to pivot back into IT work. Never should have left the field in the first place. Thought it would be easy to land something permanent at a wealthy private school, but it's not.

      Anonymous

This is the same sentiment from a lot of teacher's I know. Two of them are my in-laws who are thousands in debt from their masters just to be paid under $55k to deal with shitty kids and their just as shitty parents.

        Anonymous

Yep. It fricking sucks. Public school system is hell on earth, as are most charter schools. I see kids doing shit every day that would have instantly landed me in juvie, and administration doesn't do anything about it. Less problem kids = Less state kickbacks. Fat Albert over there whipped his dick out and told little Camila he's gonna frick her pussy up? Just escort him to the office, where a moron administrator *maybe* calls his subliterate mother up, and then he's back in class 20 minutes later. Oh, and avoid restraining him next time he threatens to kill Eduardo, otherwise we could all get sued!

The best teaching positions are obviously at private schools in wealthy neighborhoods, and boarding schools, but the teachers who have those positions aren't in a hurry to leave them. This whole continuing education certification grant thing they got me into was a godsend. Cannot wait to fricking quit.

But isn't getting summers off nice? And you get like 2 weeks for Christmas? Sometimes I regret not getting into teaching.

        Anonymous

It's really only about 6 weeks off. Most schools start aggressively trying to herd us in for preparation work 2-3 weeks before each school year starts. You're still recovering for like 1-2 weeks when it's over too. Again, this is public and charter schools I'm talking about (most charters are just as dysfunctional as failing public schools, and usually have to abide by similar regulations). My 1.5 years at a rich private school before moving were a far better experience. I just didn't realize how lucky I was to have that position, and how rare it is to find anything else remotely like it.

I work a wagie customer service job in banking, 50k before taxes. I know the market is way oversaturated but I'm going through the odin project right now trying to teach myself programming so I can get out of customer service.

      Anonymous

can you become a loan officer or anything without a degree? It seems comfy. Work literal banker hours to just plug numbers into an algorithm that tells you whether to approve or deny a loan.

        Anonymous

Yes! I've worked at a few of the most major banks in the US and I have many friends who clear six figures as financial advisors who started out as tellers or junior bankers. If you're good at selling, have good people skills and aren't pants on head moronic you can work your way up. The negatives are that it's just a glorified customer service position. You sit around in a suit in an office all day trying to convince boomers to move over their large balances over to you and the bank. You pretty much just do customer service with boomers and rich buttholes all day. It's definitely life on easy mode but it's not very fulfilling personally.

I help mainly hispanics all day. From California usually. They are store managers. I do IT for their stores.

They are seriously the worst even those born here speak like they weren't. You tell them to unplug a cable, where it is, and when to plug it back in, they'll listen to only "cable" and put you on hold and come back with an unrelated answer or asking for the rest of the steps repeated.

I once spelled a three letter word and they went "hold on wait" when I got to the second letter. Apparently i was going too fast.

This is an example call I had. I sat there 16 mins reading the criteria on the right. I minimize and do other stuff and come back to her in the middle of typing her name into her password for the beanerith time.

I don't get paid enough and it's the lowest position you can get in tech. And here I am doing it like a moron.

I also live in a low income area in Whitehall in Colonial East Apartments where apt number that rhymes with fenty fwo stomps nonstop every single fricking day as well as other Black person things as 21 doesn't get you shit these days.

Death to all spics. All of them. I hope that if i ever end up in a prison for life godforbid, I hope that the crime i did in what I assume was a mental episode, that at least a beaner was hurt.

My base salary pre-tax is 96k a year. I put 7% of my pre-tax income into my 401k and my employer has tiered contributions based on how much i put in, but currently they put in 1.15x what i put in; so thats a free ~17k per year on top of my 96k base salary
