morons that say this think "cleaning" their ears with earbuds is "hygiene."

Earwax is a natural ear cleanser, its not meant to be removed unless its excessive. Dumb homosexuals.

Fluff up a q-tip and roll it over the debris ... don't rub/brush it, you want things to get caught onto the fibers and lifted away.

Use a toothpick or sharp tool to try and remove what you can. Again, try not to push things into the airpod. You're trying to lift debris out.

Whatever's left that you can't remove one way or another. Q-tips & alcohol to dissolve and wipe away.

Ears are naturally self-cleaning, but we didn't evolve with IEMs jammed in there obstructing the process.

I carry a small microfiber cloth and rub them clean every time I take out the buds before putting them in the case. Rarely I see some earwax stuck inside the silicon tips too, in that case I put some rubbing alcohol on a piece of toilet paper rolled into a stick and clean the insides of the tips. I'd honestly prefer carrying around some over the ear headphones instead but they wouldn't fit in my tightly packet small backpack, and also I don't want the added weight.

I use earbuds, though not the one in OP. Have done so for years, and I have no plans to stop. I've tried various over-ear headphones, and they all give me pressure headaches or some other sort of pain after being worn for hours. But I have never once felt any pain or reason to remove earbuds, no matter how long I've been using them. I also don't notice any difference with sound quality; in fact, I think they might even be better because they block external noise so much more.

        Anonymous

Agreed. The noise cancelling on AirPods Pro is unmatched, you get a sudden awakening when you realize that you won't get that same sound quality on a $1000 wired headphone anywhere in the city just because of the ambient noise without turning up the volume to the max, risking hearing loss on the long term. I tried other buds before but they all feel heavy, I feel like there is a negative pressure in my ears whenever I use top of the line Sony noise cancelling earbuds. Same issue with AirPods Max and other over the ears as well. Maybe I'm just too used to the AirPods. I don't know.

Moisten it with some drops of water or just run it under the tap if you don't care, clean off most of the earwax with a q-tip, then suck the water out like it's a straw (and rinse your mouth out because there was still some earwax). Feels silly to suck on an earbud but it gets stuff off the grille really well. The remainder that's stuck to the edges comes off with a sim ejector or other small pointy thing. Been cleaning earbuds this way for over a decade at this point.

bose qcs are as light as overheads get, don't put any pressure on your earlobes, and have good anc/sound quality.

one small downside, the new ones dont have replaceable batteries, and the old ones have a tendency to blast 100dB into your eardrums if you press them the wrong way with anc enabled. dont ask me how i know.

      >rubbing alcohol
no, not rubbing alcohol. put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide in each ear, hold your head to the side and let it do its work then clean out with a cotton swab.

Don't do this; it creates a hydrogen bomb, your head will explode.

Consult your doctor before trying either of these.
90% alcohol for earwax will give an exceptional 1-time cleaning and then you WILL develop a horrendous ear wax problem as your body reacts to having exceptionally (chemically induced) dry ear canals.
Don't put anything in your ears but water, and do that very carefully.

And then let me guess, candle wax for special occasions? Asian ear care is unhealthy and insane. The most you should ever do is wrap a tissue around your index finger and clean them that way. Anything else is susceptible to giving you an ear infection, puncturing the ear drum, or pushing ear wax further in the ear canal.

Bros, I used to think I couldn't notice the difference between Bluetooth headphones or earphones compared to wired, but the difference is unforgivable.
I felt betrayed by Apple going this direction, the bitrate that's physically possible with Bluetooth is much lower than they're letting you know

      Anonymous

I don't get why they won't just double bluetooth's bitrate or let a physical wifi chip do the data transfer with bluetooth software stack on top for compatibility? I'm moron so please be gentle.

        Bluetooth is stupidly slow
When your try to improve the bandwidth, range get stupidly small

        Anonymous

I think Apple is looking into that. Phil “Courage” Schiller said something about the limitations of Bluetooth audio, probably on an episode of The Talk Show live at WWDC, then stopped himself (or Craig Federighi stopped him).

      Anonymous

You can't necessarily blame bluetooth for the quality difference, though. Every bluetooth headphone/earbud has to include a DAC, amp, battery and bluetooth transceiver, in addition to the drivers, all of which have to fit within a pretty tight size, power, and cost budget. It's not realistic to expect similar quality to wired at anywhere near the same cost.

I don't get why they won't just double bluetooth's bitrate or let a physical wifi chip do the data transfer with bluetooth software stack on top for compatibility? I'm moron so please be gentle.
