Hundreds of thousands of men fought and died to abolish the immoral practice of slavery, but then the union immediately went on to kill millions of native Americans in the west and take their land. What did they mean by this? It seems a bit contradictory.

The south wanted Black folk to slave on the fields, while the north wanted them in factories. Also the south traded heavily with britain, so that was another reason.

If the slave power won, that land would've been turned into slave plantations and not family farms. Northerners (and poor southerners) wanted that land for themselves, not for antebellum southern elites

The environment suitable for cotton plantations petered out in East Texas. The vast southwestern territory acquired by the U.S. from the Mexican war freaked out northerners and had southerners salivating but territory suitable for slavery had hit its natural limits on the continental U.S., thus furling “Golden Circle” fantasies of expansion into Latin America.

The civil war was purely economic in nature. If you want a crash course on the falsehoods that we're told about read "The Real Lincoln" which is a true liberal (not a socialist "liberal") take on the civil war. He argues that the military industrial complex created during the civil war coupled with the economic leapfrog the north was attempting by essentially going to war with the south to build a railroad lead to the murder of native americans, and that if the US approached westward expansion in a more liberal fashion much of the bloodshed could have been avoided by essentially "buying off" the natives

      >The civil war was purely economic in nature.
correct, because the South was abusing free labor so wealthy landowners could line their pockets and the North feared industrialists relocating South to have a piece of the pie. It was purely economic in nature, but slavery was the crux of the issue

slavery was a non issue and was solved by our daddy easily, the north refused to make concessions with the south so they could force them into essentially economic servitude with the justification being "they're slavers" even though 99% of southerners weren't tied to slavery since slavery mostly grew cash crops

Wrong, the North was more than happy to allow existing slave states to remain slave states. The issue was the South wanted to expand them

The South wanted war anyways, their politics were controlled by wealthy landowners under the guise of antebellum era ideas of gentry that the North simply didn't have

The northern population was ballooning thanks to immigration after the war of 1812, the north didn't want any concessions made to the south at all which was losing representation especially after slave importation was outlawed in 1808 by Jefferson. It was again Jeffersonians that pushed for the missouri compromise despite the north seeing political dominance on the horizon (like a national bank being effectively legalized by federalists in the supreme court during this period). US history is nothing but constant assaults on the southern colonies

The slavery issue was never a moral one. But one of economics and demographics. Most anti-slave northerners. Just didn't want to compete with Black slaves to get a job, especially in the west.
