I absolutely abhor email. I hate creating email accounts. I hate giving email accounts.

I absolutely abhor email. I hate creating email accounts. I hate giving email accounts.

I hate associating my online accounts together. I hate creating separate emails for each account.

No. Frick you!

Every single online account wants an email address.

    >inb4 create multiple accounts for each online account
Protonmail does not allow multiple free accounts.

    >use something other than protonmail
I hate email. I'm sick of its bullshit.

    OP

    Some constructive questions:

Do you use the same email for all of your online accounts?

Do you segment your online accounts to different email addresses?

How do you create/alias your email addresses? Do you expect your solution to last 10+ years?

What is your plan for when your email host/alias service closes up shop?

How many email hosts have you gone through over the years?

      >Do you use the same email for all of your online accounts?
I've patched my mailserver to redirect [email protected] to [email protected]
      >Do you segment your online accounts to different email addresses?
      See previous
      >How do you create/alias your email addresses? Do you expect your solution to last 10+ years?
Yes. Plus is just another character according to the RFC. It's absolutely valid in an email address.
      >What is your plan for when your email host/alias service closes up shop?
It will close up shop because I have died at which point I will no longer need it.
      >How many email hosts have you gone through over the years?
Two. My father gave me a mailbox on his host when I was a child and when I became a man I learned to configure my own mailserver.

      >Do you use the same email for all of your online accounts?
      >Do you segment your online accounts to different email addresses?
I use Riseup, which let's me make multiple aliases for free. So it's easy to have a throwaway email connected to my actual account without exposing the main address.
      >How do you create/alias your email addresses? Do you expect your solution to last 10+ years?
      See above; Yes.
      >What is your plan for when your email host/alias service closes up shop?
Riseup has been around since 1999, and I expect them to continue for many years to come.
      >How many email hosts have you gone through over the years?
Countless. In the early aughts I had Hotmail and then moved to Gmail, got sick of Google and went to AOL, but that was terrible and went back to Gmail. After the Snowden revelations I switched to ProtonMail, but I really didn't care for it all that much, and moved over to Tutanota. I got tired of them due to a lack of features at the time and switched to Disroot, which was relatively good overall. I would probably still be with Disroot if it weren't the fact that I managed to snag a Riseup invite over a year ago.

Did you bother to update the logins of online accounts which used the old email addresses?

          >Did you bother to update the logins of online accounts which used the old email addresses?
I'm a hyper minimalist, I've only got 5 online accounts. If you've got 100s of online accounts, then you might have a harder time switching services.

Cozy. I've been looking into self-hosting for a similar purpose because I'm probably too young to know anybody using invite-only stuff. Any thoughts on the Riseup VPN, if you've used that at all? Just curious.

create different emails for porn and other things you don't want to be doxxed for (racism, antisemitism, sperging out, asking for health advice on reddit)
sure the NSA will know who all those accounts belong to but skiddies won't
    NPCs won't
    nobody else will
except maybe the homosexuals who own those websites
but you're one autist out of millions

email is fine, at least it's free and you can have as many as you want. give business1, business2 etc different addresses so if you start getting spam it's easy to cut off
phone numbers are what fricking suck
    >number gets added to some spam database
    >nothing at all you can do about it except move a hundred different websites' MFA details to a new number which might be spam-free for a month
it's fricking awful and i hate it

Anyway, I made this thread because I wanted to ask a question in a language's community. However, that community is within discord, so even if I deal with the email req, I will likely need to then deal with the phone number req.

It still beats creating accounts with my phone number.

I used have a second account called [email protected] for registering in places I knew they were going to send crap, but that name would give a lot of problems with automatic filters. Sure,as if a real spammer would have an account called spam.
