i mean... the reason why europe developed and other societies didnt was because we had the means to do so. it does not have anything to do with superiority or inferiority of civilizations in fact the cleanest societies with the highest life spans were China and Japan. Europe had the dirtiest, most diseased ridden societies in the world, but they also had the means to develop industrially.
the developed world wouldn't exist today if it weren't for the industrial revolution, its just as simple as that.

A "first world society" is built on the foundation of the Industrial Revolution. It literally cannot exist without some capacity of automation.
"First world" is explicitly when you can purchase food from the grocery store instead of cultivating it yourself.

There are armies of men with guns preventing you from hunting without a loisense and they will lock you in a different box if you get caught. Poaching laws are fricking insane since the 90s. They will steal all your guns too.

There's a total of 5 LEOs in my entire county of 7000 square miles, and I have to stop and honk at a herd of elk every morning on my way to work. There's actually 4 times as many elk in the county as people. Now, who's going to stop you from moving out here and living your dream?

I live in Kansas. There is no public land here and plenty of huge whitetails. Tresspassing is a good way to get shot. I've been across most of the country from California to new york. If you do want to poach the best way is with a crossbow and an ir optic but that's just for free meat. It's not traveling across open wildreness with no fenses and no homosexual rangers.

            >Tresspassing is a good way to get shot
Don't trespass. Either hunt on your own property or make friends with a rancher if you're a landlet. Pretty much any rancher out here will let you go varminting on their land if you're not a wierdo, get a tonneau cover to hide the elk in your bed and no one will ever know if you bag something big. I'd plan on butchering it yourself, but that's probably not that big a deal, I assume that's part of the fantasy.

I have done it with whitetails but it's not hunting all day everyday on open unfenced wilderness. That's just a way to get free meat.

the status quo is much more powerful than armies or land laws or anything like that. The Industrial revolution has ingrained itself so deeply into first world society that its impossible to escape. Think about how different things would be if we were taught to hunt and fish since birth for example and that was the STATUS QUO. instead of the insane homosexualry and hedonism that the I.R. has brought upon first world countries.

Capitalism hasn't existed in 100 years. What we have is an all new and more treacherous beast, keynsianism. Not only do they steal the money you make in taxes but it is just a corporate coupon that they can steal the value from at will by printing more. At least before bank notes were tied to a finite asset and you couldn't just steal from your enslaved population at will without them even noticing you were legally counterfeiting.

all of those negative behaviors are illegal already. most of the negative effects on society from addiction are due to prohibition, not the drugs themselves.

This is peak midwit that completely misses the point to try to have a nuanced opinion.
Drugs are discouraged because drug addicts don't make good workers, fathers, mothers, general citizens, etc.

Ask any functioning addict if they could magically not be addicted to it by pushing a button and none of them are going to say no. Because the whole problem with addiction is that your tolerance increases and you need more and more to get the same high.

By enabling them you're just speed running them becoming complete zombies from doing really powerful shit because that's where their addiction inevitably leads to.

If you were never a smoker, ask one about it. It feels good at first, but then it eventually gets to the point where you need nicotine to just feel normal and you feel like shit when you don't have it. Nicotine/smoking generally doesn't progress past this point, because there's no really anyway to ingest more nicotine than smoking. Whereas with shit like heroin and coke, when they reach that stage, now they need to do larger quantities or higher grade stuff until they OD or turn into a zombie from doing so much high grade shit.

            >TL:DR
Go to any large metropolitan area and find some zombies and say
            >yeah this is fine as long as they're not stealing or assaulting anyone!
or just look up how opium affected China when the British forced them to make it legal.

you are like a tiny ant and my point is an airbus flying overhead.

I have personally experimented with every class of drugs, smoked cigarettes, was an alcoholic at one point. None of these substances make good people do bad things. They may facilitate already shitty people doing shittier things, but thats it.

Sure, drugs may increase petty crime in groups composed of primarily "good," people, but not moreso than poverty, lack of access to food, lack of access to medical care, etc.

My point is that most of these ills are not caused by the drugs or the people using them, but, instead caused by the war on drugs/prohibition.

Also, the British never forced the Chinese to make Opium legal, that period of time was much more nuanced. That situation kind of makes my point too, it wasn't opium itself or the people using it causing issues for the chinese, it was the british production and import of opium for profit and control that caused these issues. if you remove the bongs and their greed, the chinese never would have known what opium even is.

OK, so we both have tried drugs in the past. It doesn't seem like you partake anymore, and, neither do I. Why did you call me a druggie then? I'm 31. Please do some research on this subject and you will find I am right, the best way to reduce drug use and addiction is to decriminalize and de-stigmatize them.

I'm not in favor of extreme drug prohibition or anything but not really. Most of america is on pharmaceuticals which is totally legal but is definitely completely fricking them up mentally (e.g. antidepressants) and negatively effecting society.

            >you are like a tiny ant and my point is an airbus flying overhead.
Incredibly ironic considering you missed my entire point which is that the theft and other crimes that result from drug use isn't the main issue. It's the fact over time drugs destroy your mind and body and make you unable to function like a normal person.

            >I've done drugs and didn't get addicted!
Good for you, but that's not the issue we're talking about. We're talking specifically about addicts.

            >None of these substances make good people do bad things.
It's unquestionable that people will do things on drugs that they wouldn't otherwise do sober. But again, that's not even the core issue, the issue is preventing addiction which turns people into zombies and/or kills them eventually.

            >Also, the British never forced the Chinese to make Opium legal
Because it was so rare before they dumped it on them and after they started they tried repeatedly to restrict it even going to war to do so.

            >it wasn't opium itself or the people using it causing issues for the chinese
The opium itself absolutely was causing issues. Yes the root problem was the British being in control, but one of the problems of that was them doing shit like dumping cheap opium on the market for everyone to use. That's like telling someone in a gulag
            >well actually it's not the fact you're in a gulag that's the problem, it's more nuanced than that. The real issue is that the Communists are in charge :^)

            >if you remove the bongs and their greed, the chinese never would have known what opium even is.
Ignoring how that's not true. Would you rather live in which of the following

Scenario 1: You're Chinese, the British take over and dump cheap opium in your country.

Scenario 2: Same as scenario 1, except the British don't have access to large amounts of opium or other hard drug and so can't dump your country with it, but everything else is the same.

            >Good for you, but that's not the issue we're talking about. We're talking specifically about addicts.

that information was provided directly in response to some kind of character attack - someone claimed that my personal ignorance in regards to drugs is why I have this opinion

            >It's unquestionable that people will do things on drugs that they wouldn't otherwise do sober. But again, that's not even the core issue, the issue is preventing addiction which turns people into zombies and/or kills them eventually.

you are just restating what I said, except now morality exist on a spectrum

here watch I can use something you said to refute something else you said in the same post (holy shit you must be stupid)

            I said:
            >if you remove the bongs and their greed, the chinese never would have known what opium even is.
            you responded:
            >Ignoring how that's not true. . .

earlier in the post you said:
            >Because it [the opium] was so rare before they dumped it on them and after they started they tried repeatedly to restrict it even going to war to do so.

just stop. I know you have been brainwashed since you have been a child to believe arbitrary chemicals are intrinsically evil (and people who ingest them should be punished) but it just is not true. how does any of this make sense when alcohol is legal? its a psychoactive drug, and by far the most harmful to the user and society at large. yet its perfectly fine to walk the line with addiction with alcohol.

truth is, decriminalization and de-stigmatization would lower drug use, it would lower drug abuse, and, all of the other harms that come along with those things. the actual numbers will back this up.

Not to mention most of them get drunk for the first time at age 8-12 and then indo harder drugs before 18. Just because you're a nerd that didn't experience that doesn't mean you are better than a degenerate who has come back into the light. The story of trading meaning for pleasure is archetypical which is why it's in pretty much every world mythology. The opposite case is people that I know that fricked around and travelled or just stayed as students. Those guys are fricked and will never not work.

Just come clean. It'll be better for your own health and well being, and for the supervisor. Express your interest in actually completing your degree, the changes you'll make, and work together on a timeline. They might have a project you can jump into and get something out of quickly.

Obviously it depends on the advisor, but most will just be happy to actually get things moving. Believe me, they've dealt with this kind of thing before.

Oh, and good luck. You got to where you are for a reason; don't compare yourself to others, just achieve what you want to achieve.

half of it is due to him forcing AI into my subject, my original thesis was something that i work with daily and he just said "learn and make an AI project since it's trendy".

Keep in mind this is YOUR education. If you're not being hyperbolic, consider he might have felt you where a bit directionless and tried to push you to something "interesting."

But generally, if you have a direction you want to go, go for it. If you need a new supervisor, you can do that, talk to admin and your current supervisor, frankly. Do keep in mind what advice they give though. He might have felt there wasn't enough to what you wanted to do, for example. Just communicate, and if your supervisor won't then get a new one. Be polite and take everything in the best possible light.

is it worth going back to college at 24? is it too late? specially if being around people younger than me makes me uncomfortable? being around people younger than me demoralizes me. and sadly I'm too old to make friends or start relationships in college so i need to find people elsewhere. also I'm $200K from the first time in college after dropping out.

Just have thick skin I guess... Having an active social life and friends outside of uni helps, I didn't give a frick about what my zoomer classmates thought about me. Some of them were cool though, I did socialize with them.

I'm not American though, we don't live in campus dorms in my country, you just commute to the uni every day like you would go to a job or a regular school. I guess it would have felt more isolated if I had to live there.

won't they just call it harassment and cancel you?

Just go to trade school and become liscensed in hvac then. It will take like 9 months and then you'll make decent money by 30

thing is, I want to move out of the country and work abroad, and you can't do that with a trade. it absolutely has to be a white collar job. a degree is either required for a visa or very difficult to get without one.

unironically just kys. you lost the nepotism lottery you so desire, pray that your next life feeds you with a silver spoon lmao.

it's not nepotism. I just want a compfy life by 30. 5 years is enough to get a six figure job and a degree by 30, and thankfully my mom will buy the house for me.

I'm skinnyfat (not noticeable) and not ugly (well women consider 90% of men ugly so w/e).

            >can you actually meet friends and women through your job or will they just tell you to frick off?
Yes you can, I even dated a coworker which was a no-no but w/e. I've found jobs are the best way to meet people, since you are basically locked in a room with other people 8 hours a day everyone is like "might as well interact with these people around me to pass the time". At first it's forced socialization with a bunch of randos but eventually this leads to voluntary socialization with the people that you actually clicked with.

            >what hobbies are good for meeting people?
I guess any "club type" activity that forces you to interact with others. (book club, cooking class, drama club, sports, card games, etc)

            > but how often is that? can I do projects alone?
I can't answer this, I don't know. It depends on your career and school.
My career was economics, we had a lot of group projects, and you were not allowed to do them alone. But ymmv.

            >and is it possible to keep interaction to a bare minimum? because I absolutely don't want to interact.
Yeah definitively. Most people just want to get the fricking work done, they are not there to goof around.
