I got a STEM degree ten years ago when everybody said it was in demand and didn't get a job.

I got a STEM degree ten years ago when everybody said it was in demand and didn't get a job. Recently I'm getting a trade and soon be finished up but our instructor said good luck finding a job in trades nowadays due to high demand for women, non whites and gays in trades and due to everyone getting a trade now.

Am I fricked for life or what?

Considering dropping out even though I have only 2 months left to get it.

What do you mean by that, you graduated in 2014 and never got a job?

    >women, non whites and gays in trades
You forgot the hordes of low-paid hispanics. It’s like they’ve systematically closed off all avenues, all opportunities, for young white men. I’m clueless myself so I’m just NEETing now. Years ago I used to mock NEETs on this site. Looks like karma has bit me in the ass for that

This they destroyed this country and we let them. They are also incredibly racist and if you work with them they will frick you over every check they get just because you are white and you don't speak Spanish.

My parents fricked me over by convincing me to get a degree 10 years ago as well and I couldn't find a job, instead of getting a trade I'm getting a cert in the hopes I can land in a fairly decent job but since I'm a white man no one will hire me either, most likely. I think the best thing to do is to get out of the Nation ASAP to find work and never come back. I already told my parents if I can find work outside of the West I'm recinding my citizenship and never coming back, not even to visit them. Frick the West.

Get your CDL, it takes 4 weeks, you will come out making around 40k but you can easily get up to 90k in less than 3 years

I'm not paying for another certification or degree. I have a STEM degree in Computer Science and a trade as Millwright and haven't gotten a job in either when both are hypothetically six figure jobs.

Thanks for hiring the gay trans black wheelchair ridden guy instead of me.

Last I checked California electricians are breaking in at ~$37 after you get through the apprentice training which is 4-6 weeks. As an HDR mech I’m making $31. Honestly never heard of millwrighting till you, sounds cool and all but seems your efforts/skills/intelligence could be directed towards another trade without taking on another huge learning curve.

          >but seems your efforts/skills/intelligence could be directed towards another trade without taking on another huge learning curve.
I graduated never getting below 95% in my trade.

Millwright is basically like an industrial mechanic nowadays. You may have heard of industrial electrician that's a Millwright who also is an electrician it's a field I'd like to do.

I'm Canadian so doesn't matter what people make stateside to me unfortunately.

A good starting wage is $25/hour for Millwright apprentice but I can't find work anywhere even putting out resumes across Canada.

So right now I'm living on welfare cause it's hard even get a job at McDonald's or Tim Hortons here and most of them are staffed by Filipinos or pajeets.

What I’m trying to say (even though I don’t know how canada operates) is Millwright seems to get less exposure than other trades that you would be doing more or less the exact same thing. I’m sure mills are more popular there but an engine is an engine. Hydraulics are hydraulics etc. jumping into another trade could be advantageous?

You don't know what a millwright does we work on hydraulics and industrial equipment, engines, gears, belts even do welding sometimes and piping.

Played vidya all day and sink into a hole of neetdom. It's extremely hard to get out of once you stop doing anything that requires some degree of discipline. When I was at my worst I would literally wake up, go on my computer, and sit there for 16 hours until bedtime aside from bathroom breaks and eating whatever my parents gave me.

nothing to do with hiring quotas then is it
if you don't change, you will encounter the same thing with your millwright thing
finish your training and sort your shit out

I got a degree in ME and couldnt find a job either bro. Maybe I'll go find some random trade but I really feel apathetic towards everything. All I want is a job where I'm not trapped in a place with no bathroom and if I get hit by a bus or something I don't become unemployable and homeless but apparently that's a luxury nowadays
