I was laughing at you until I remembered I fell for the meme too. At least yours isn't white and looks like a homeless man's mouse or that you pissed on it. It sucked in the beginning, especially the scroll wheel, and it still sucks but I got used to it.

      live and learn, my man

same story, I tried to sell it after months of struggling with the moronic scroll wheel, then just got used to it

It's fricking brilliant, what are you gays on about? Just press the middle button and then you can scroll like a normal person.

It needs to be bigger for my big hands and not have such bad software affixed to it. Part of me wants to get a G502X to escape it. Performance MX was comfier.

It's meant for huge hands what the frick are you even talking about? It's a larger mouse, you can't get much larger without getting a trackball

        hello, logitech representative sir.
        >what are you gays on about?
the advanced AI that logi developed that detects whether I want to scroll a little or a lot, and do the exact opposite. I must say that this doesn't happen as often anymore as it did in the beginning so maybe it took a liking to me and stopped trolling.

I will say the usb bolt receiver is fricking moronic and will cause problems if not put in the front IO panel (which further increases latency). Same happened with my mx master mechanical that I got at the same time, and it makes me want to throw the keyboard at a logitech rep's head.

Or are you just doing the freewheel scrolling? It's a shit meme, I don't use it and haven't because of that exact problem

            Anonymous

I leave it "locked", as in it has steps, if that's what you're asking. the free wheel is even worse, often stuff scrolls down and then back up again.
it's just "unreliable". for example, in my g502, if I scroll one step, the page (or documents or whatever) will always move the same amount every time. it's like I never know really how much it will scroll. it's like using the mouse with my left hand.
though, again, I somehow got used to it and go long periods of time without even thinking about this problem.

there’s no ai you moron, it’s a motor that detects how much force you exert on the wheel and dislodges the ratchet at a certain pre-determined point. you just got used to it. You flick the wheel to dislodge it

I got long fingers. The Performance MX was simply more comfortable in my hand. I also agree with the sentiment here that the rubber coating on these mice blow chunks. Is there a mouse out there made of glass and stuff that doesn’t break down with use?

If only Apple’s mouse wasn’t such hipster shit I’d use that instead.

        He didn't but a trackball...

You know what. I might go trackball next.
I have a separate mouse for gaming already.

Looking around at trackballs, I notice several with a mouse wheel that looks like that on the MX Master 2S or 3 but none that mention free spinning mouse wheel.
I gotta have that shit now. I can't live without it. Perhaps I could transplant it from my 2S into a trackball...

I got a MX Ergo for $10 at a Goodwill. They must not have liked it very much considering they donated it. I don't like it either.

        >trackball
moronic meme and worse than traditional mice in every single way (provided you have a flat surface to use your mouse on, which is almost always the case anyway). Unless your sensitivity is moronicly low, you don't have to move your arm around with a mouse either.

Seriously, trackballs are one of the worst IQfy memes, they are nothing but a waste of money (but at least they won't waste your time, unlike, say, Gentoo).

The MX Master is without a doubt ridiculously overpriced, but at least it's a "normal" mouse that works.

Since when was it a meme, I rarely see people posting with trackballs. I just like using a trackball, not sure what to say. I grew up with them and besides nostalgia it's very comfy to rest my whole hand down on a bean bag and just use my fingers. Besides that tossing the ball for scrolling is nice. It won't replace my mouse for gaming yet. I don't think so anyways.

your obviously a moron. trackballs are just as legit as any mouse. maybe not for gaming (i dunno, im not a moron gamer), but for any other use, they are perfectly valid alternative.

nothing wrong with it, but if your browser doesn’t have accelerated scrolling it’s easy for the smartshift to spasm out from tugging the scroll wheel too much. you can just turn it off in the settings if it bothers you but people are moronic so they go on the internet to whine about it instead. it’s a decent mouse

That would be a problem with this mouse as it has no onboard memory, so you do need some software to get the extra stuff to work. Which is half the fricking mouse to be honest.

I use it on both Linux and Windows.
On both the basics (left/middle/right buttons, scroll wheel, pointer) work out of the box like any mouse and you can use standard software to re-map them.

On Windows you have to install special Ligitech software to map the other buttons.
The software isn't great but it has a decent GUI.

On Linux you also have to install special software but it has no GUI.
Instead you have to edit a configuration file, which is harder than on Windows but it also gives you a bit more control.

I prefer the Windows software with the GUI but both work.

            In which way?
I'm fine with editing a config file but I'm wondering if you can set it up the same way even if it's more difficult. I just use ratchet mode, so I set the button on the top to take screenshots and the bottom one to do gestures. And the mousewheel to zoom. And 800 dpi and the scrolling gimmicks disabled.

I can't scroll too fast. Or if I do I have to hold the wheel while doing so. I sort of adapted but I can see some line skipping at times. Free wheel to me is insane, sure it feels smooth, but it's like I have to be extra delicate with it.

My biggest problem is the battery. I just noticed it dropped 20% in fricking nothing. Not sure if it is because I'm using the receiver instead of Bluetooth or playing with the mouse wheel a little bit too much to adapt but frick me. If it drops fast and requires charging through a cable, no point on it being wireless.

It's a feature of Omron switches. So just avoid them. Opticals are the way to go if wou must guarantee no double clicking, since optical has no need for debounce latency compnsation.

The only issue I had with it was its abysmal polling rate of 125Hz, as it made it unusable for me since I couldn't accurately click anything. I loved everything else about that mouse - the scroll wheel was clicky when going slow and smooth when going fast, I set the side scroll to control volume, and the stupid thumb gesture key was kinda useful for browser shortcuts.
However, because of its terrible polling rate I returned it a week later and got a cheaper Logitech G502X with 1000Hz polling rate, so this one feels like a wired mouse.

The sensor is fine, it's the radio link that shits itself. Mine would start lagging like crazy when I put a usb flash stick in the 3.0 port right next to the receiver. I used a usb extension cord to place the receiver under the monitor and it's been smooth af ever since (aside from maybe once every 2 weeks when it starts lagging for no reason at all, which goes away after turning the mouse off and back on)

For some reason that works on pretty much anything but photoshop. Affinity photo works fine with it. I'm thinking of ditching Adobeshit at this point I swear to god.

    OP here
After trying it for 2 days or so I kind of got used to it. Flicking the mousewheel is fun, gotta be honest. The side buttons still suck dick though, I spend an hour trying to find them with my thumb and I don't have sausage fingers.

Logitech and Razer can allow you to macro stuff with their software, especially Logitech which allows you to run a LUA script through G Hub.

      Or alternatively, use AutoHotkey.
I have an AHK script that makes buttons turboclick only while scroll lock is active. https://easyupload.io/5ap6ee

bought one a year ago and it's probably my favorite mouse i've ever owned. i mainly like it for the form factor, feel of scrolling, and the look, so if you hate on it because of some advanced feature being shit then i guess that's fair but i can't really relate

G502 Proteus Core, bought in 2015 and heavy use daily, still works perfectly
Think it's a lottery whether you get the good switches or the shit switches
