I have decided that I want to grow closer to God by becoming a christian sage.

I have decided that I want to grow closer to God by becoming a christian sage. The goal is to spend 30,000 hours studying various fields over my lifetime in order to better understand the world that He created for us. I want the fields I study to be non-vocational (which means there's no real point in studying accounting, programing, etc) while focusing on fields related to His creation rather than our own culture (meaning that art, sociology, and law are also out).

Here is the list of fields that I have come up with:
>Doctrine
-Old Testament
-New Testament

>History
-religious history only

>Language
-Hebrew
-Greek
-Aramaic

>Agriculture
-husbandry
-food science
-earth/soil/environmental science

>Math
-calculus
-number theory
-logic

>Science
-biology
-chemistry
-physics
-zoology
-astronomy
-anthropology
-psychology/neuroscience
-anatomy/physiology
-genetics
-medicine

Any other fields you can think of? (Feel free to join me on my journey to becoming a sage if you'd like)

Eunochs in this case is referring to the related time period where eunochs had been castrated as a sign that he is now a servant of the king. They did that back then to keep the men from sleeping with the king's wives or plotting assassinations.

It's a metaphor for making yourself a servant who is completely loyal to one Lord.

If you study math and the sciences, you will become atheist.

Incorrect. God created the math and physics that hold the universe together, so not studying it would be like refusing to accept that which He created.

Incorrect. Math and Physics dont hold the universe together, they describe the universe in fallable human terms.

Semantics. It doesn't change the fact that math/physics are the language of God.

But you claim that it's evidence for God.
Him being the creator of them.
Yet you haven't shown what actually necessitates God in this Equation.

            Anonymous

I'm not claiming that the universe is evidence of God. I'm saying that based on the logic that God has created the universe and the physical laws within it, it would be a christian's duty to study these laws to better understand our creator.

Christians believe that all of the knowledge necessary for salvation already exists in the bible.

I'm not doing this for salvation. I'm doing this to share a deeper connection with my God.

Nobody here is going to recognize a historically accurate portrait of Jesus. Even if they did, they'd still prefer the romanized version anyway.

    Which denomination?
    That’s too many sciences
Stick to Math, Physics and Chemistry
Or if not maybe Bio, Medicine and Genetics
Because you won’t be able to learn all these

Most people can learn all of those in 6 years of formal schooling (which is like an hour and a half twice a week).

add geometry to your mathematics list and look into the old curricula built around the seven liberal arts (the trivium and the quadrivium), e.g.

I wasn't sure if geometry was like arithmetic in the sense that there's an "all you'll ever need to know" after basic schooling. Glad to know the field is still growing, and I'll definitely add this to the list!
