Just started a new project in it after not having touched it in over a decade. It's still le bad.

100% of the time this retort comes from people who know C++ 2-3 times worse than I do, let alone general programming ability.

Oh yeah well explain what std::launder does without looking it up

Don't know. Don't care. Has no bearing on my point.

I don't actually know what it does myself, I was hoping you would explain it in plain English

so you don't know C++ at all, got it.

Actually, I amend my statement. I just looked it up and it does have a bearing on my point: the very fact that it's a thing at all proves my point. C++ only ever gets more moronic.

            >std::launder
holy shit. is it this bad in C++ you needs gimmicks like this to prevent your compiler from not correctly compiling your code?

I think that's used in borderline ultra rare conditions, probably for legacy codebases or some shit. No one safe would actually want to use that

            >rare conditions
I'm reading it now, I think I understand, but I also can't even believe what I'm reading.
I haven't actively used a newer C++ compiler than like GCC7 and soon after quit the company because GCC4 -> 7 broke so much broken UB laden shitcode I couldn't take it anymore and swore to never do C++ shitware ever again.

it's some "pointer provenance" stupid garbage because compiler authors are fricking buttholes who only care about making microbenchmark number go up at any cost. it's just the natural result of having myopic hyperspecialized nerds working on compiler optimization infrastructure who are only concerned with making their llvm optimization pass as "effective" as possible without any care for the bigger picture. tragic, frankly.

I stumbled on that on cppreference the other day and couldn't figure out what it does.

Actually, I amend my statement. I just looked it up and it does have a bearing on my point: the very fact that it's a thing at all proves my point. C++ only ever gets more moronic.

            >C++ only ever gets more moronic.
Pretty sure most of the C++ committee is moronic zoomers who think they're smarter than they are. std::format for example.

can confirm this as well, or they're literally 40 year old boom booms.

I can't webshit on C++, but it's probably my most liked language. Most of my experience with it these days is for Qt if I need a GUI for a desktop app.

campaign has some insane rushes, but the horde mode is brutal towards the end where blue frickers that were considered bosses before start pouring in
I always wondered how hard would it be to read game state with CheatEngine or something and then use that to train the AI, so that I get to see what strats it would come up with
