Because you evolved to have the behavioral traits of needing to contribute to a group and pursue things.

A lot of men have careers, wives, children, hobbies and still search for purpose and feel like something is missing though. How do you explain that?

Purpose is something you either have or you don't. You can't have too little or too much, you can't gorge on it like food. People keep seeking it and never seem to find it outside of religion.

          >if accident
          >then why
You just told us the reason: Accident.

How do you "accidentally" end up with a will to see purpose and meaning in life?

            >Then how did we end up with millions of species inhabiting the same environments right on top of one another?
This is answered in 100 level biology, biological niches. The squirrel eats acorns and dwells in the trees, the coyote eats most animals, the deer eats various types of vegetation, black bear gets around competition by having a highly varied omnivorous diet, etc.
Every animal has its niche, in some cases you have two animals in a very similar niche where they have strengths and weaknesses based on different strategies for the same food that balance out.

Evolution by natural selection has nothing to do with atheism any more than electromagnetism or relativity do. It's a scientific theory based on observable facts about the physical world, and its was developed precisely to answer your question: why are there different species?

Why do you assume that there has to be an explanation?
If humans weren't created then there's no specific reason for anything that we feel. Everything is just vestiges from evolution, and probably our intellectual understanding and instinctive fear of death.

If you're trying to make an argument in favor of God or religion, you're going about it the wrong way. It's not that the lack of fulfillment and purpose without religion proves religion, but rather that regardless of the truth behind a religion, it can be a positive if it provides fulfillment and purpose.

Cause humans developed ego, ego craves meaning. Frail egos can't sustain themselves with their own meaning, they need there to be something external holding them up (i.e. "higher purpose"). Most humans have frail egos. This is why religions in all their various forms are popular among humans. Religions explain things, sure, but that's not why people seek them out. Very intelligent people who know the fables and myths are false also cling to religion, because their egos cannot handle a meaningless universe.

Because we were created without purpose aka accidentally? If we were created on purpose we wouldn’t have to search for it ourselves now would we? This lack of purpose is if anything more proof of accidental creation than of planned creation. If we had a designer he would make us with said purpose already pre-defined as it would be his intent, which would probably be sucking god’s wiener 24/7 just like he likes the fat bastard. We being left to wonder this being would be like creating a car but never connecting the motor, lights etc. and just leaving it to rot in a barn for 6000 years all the while expecting it to self-drive itself to a nearby pizza shop and bring you a pepperoni pizza.
