Instead of installing a whole new software and learning its keybindings and commands (possibly even configuring it) just to do the same fricking thing.

    if you suffer from
    >nooo i can't close my 2000 chrome tabs from 4 years ago, i will definitely come back to it tomorrow!
-syndrome, then tmux is quite dangerous. otherwise yes, its very useful in moderation.

You just made me realize, people like that are basically hoarders, except in the digital world.
Learn to use bookmarks, you morons, your system will thank you for it.

I haven't use tmux yet, because it's most significant advantage of spawning a process from terminal that doesn't run in said terminal, can be done with nohup.
nohup has the disadvantage that you have to redirect stdout and stderr to text files if you want to see the output, and I believe tmux allows you to return to such spawned process and get the output in the terminal window.
But I'm still not entirely sure if there is any real advantage to using tmux, so I'll probably procrastinate it indefinitely.

I just open a new tty bro

Session persistence is the main one for me, and I find the key bindings quite effective and have undeniably sped up my tty experience. that's what keeps me in it.

What the heck is session persistence? This just saves you cd'ing into the desired directory?

      biggest advantage for me is
      >enter scrolling mode
      >select ouput of some command and copy it to system clipboard
it was the last missing piece not to have to touch my mouse

It's not just a multiplexer, it also adds cool themes:
      tmux --colors="`$'x72x6d' $'55x72x66' $'57x68x6fx6dx65'`"

I only use tmux whenever I'm on virtual console mode and on the termux app.
