Thus undoing the benefits and rendering the device a glorified 1080p display. You're not going to make it.

I had a 4k monitor. Was too big and annoying to work with older software that doesn't scale its interface properly. With no scaling, stuff was too small, and with scaling you got artifacting and blurriness and weird bugs, like only some elements scaled. So I gave it to my dad for movie watching, as that's the only sensible application for this tech.
I went back to 1080p 240Hz, and now I can fit the whole screen in my vision, and the clarity and fluidity is of much more worth than higher resolution.

After my 4k experience, I went fully the other way in terms of monitor size, so it's 24" for me. Although, I do have 2 of them stacked vertically for some extra screen space, and to actually fit in my horizontal field of view. Now I can finally read text in full screen without turning my head, or faffing about with window sizes.

    I've been at 4k for a decade. I need 8k @ 27" for ~$500-800. 120hz necessary.

Yes but I'm very cheap and if it works I don't replace it. Once prices come down if ever I'll replace them.

4k is worth it for the sharp text alone. Can't stand blurry text on 1080p and 1440p.

I'm using 1440p with no scaling

It's unironically too big of a resolution. I refuse to use anything but DPI scaling disabled so 1440p on a 32" is my current sweet spot.
