You are wrong, typst has a cloud option but it can be run completely locally from cli.

And just in case you are too moronic, I'm confirming that you can run it completely offline and build the tool from source as it is open source.

Oh and lastly, you don't need an account, it's just a foss cli tool and you can just install it from your package manager, the cli tool has no account, not even login options, it's just a builder like pandoc or latex is.

NGL, I really love the setup of microsoft word, google docs. But ooh, after using joplin, just thinking of their interface and functionality is such a soothing thought. But I want one thats privacy focused and maybe even able to be personalized.

It doesn't have to be quite as good as those, but somewhere, even slightly close, would be nice.

On joplin (I dont know why ANYONE in 2024 would recommend or even mention this as a relevant document app), there are severe limitations such as how you cant even underline, change the font, font size, color, etc.

Just now, I had worked on compiling a month of worth of notes on a project from my journal to text, and after it was nearly finished, I accidentally pressed down ctrl, or Fn, or shift, or a combo of 2 of those, idk. AND THE WHOLE PROJECT DISAPPEARED. Except for the title... lol. I finally found the "undo" setting, and no matter how much i pressed undo, nothing happened. days worth of work was completely lost.

I need to get back to work on this, starting all the way over, but theres just no fricking way that I can do it on joplin. But I dont want to crawl back to microsoft or google either. what options do I have?

Joplin is a note taking app. For nicely formatted documents, use LibreOffice (or LaTeX if you are autistic about formatting) if you don't want to use big corpo tools.
That means figuring out why LibreOffice didn't work, instead of giving up.
