Yes. Yes, completely and totally. Plato is both the beginning and the end of Philosophy, the alpha and the omega. When you have started with Plato, you can go on to read all the other philosophers, and when you are done with that, you can return to Plato, and realize that he was right about everything from the start.

Nietzsche went insane from seething so hard about this, by the way. Nietzsche discovered the truth and he didn't like it.

Yes, like said, philosophy begins with Plato to Hegal and finally with Plato again. This is why Hegal is the last philosopher because nothing new comes after him

I slightly disagree with you there. Its more start with plato, then plotinus, porphery, iamblichus, Syrianus, Plutarch and then back to Plato..one can study aristotle.

Not really, materialist philosophy is one of the bedrock schools of thought, without which empiricism and scientific study isn't possible, and that can be attributed almost directly to Heraclitus who posited a 'rules based' Universe constituted of fundamental units of matter whos interactions were predicated on chance, to to put better,
are probabilistic. None of these ideas are strictly platonic, and some of them arguably even predate Heraclitus.

      >without which empiricism and scientific study isn't possible
Empirikus seemed to do just fine without it. As did Berkeley. Materialist philosophy doesn't make anything more possible than anything else since in the end we are all just trying to describe the same thing. The only people who think this just haven't read much philosophy or desperately try to cling to some ridiculous notion of atheistic objectivity.

      >without which empiricism and scientific study isn't possible
Bullshit. Science not only works without materialism, it disproves it.

Nature is the EMERGENCE of the INTELLECT, moron. Life, Soul CANNOT be generated by irrational empty Matter. Matter is the principle of non-existence, dummy. moronic inversion of Plato

No because I noticed that the footnotes in plato invoke Homer, whoever thinks everything is a footnote to plato has never seen the footnotes in plato
