Meth is very good for writing but I would not recommend it purely because it is extremely addicting and you will end up smoking it all the time

Correct, no one has ever written anything in pen before! You get the point I'm trying to make. Substitute pens for pencils, paper, typewriters, Microsoft Word, whatever you want -- the point still stands.

It's not contrarianism. The tobacco in cigarettes is lower quality. Pipe tobacco and cigars are also usually treated with aromatics to make the smell more pleasant than cigarette tobacco. Not to mention that many cigarette brands contain chemical additives.

This this utter bullshit. You have flavored cigars that have additives and your Black person brands, but a premium cigar from a humidor is 100% fermented tobacco leaf, the quality of which varies depending on the usual factors. But they are not adding things for aromatics, you fricking nerd.

It really is. If you've never smoked a pipe before, there's barely any nicotine but the whole experience of mindful puffing and the slow intake through the mouth leads to this indica-like, sit the frick down and think about the universe feeling that makes gandalf smoking a pipe make sense. You have wizard thoughts and if it's some especially strong pipe weed, go off to this little tavern in the far lands where a bunch of pipe smoking hobbits, rangers and dwarroes welcome you to the table.

Good times, and a great way to read a book.

Cobs are very Tom Sawyer (you still look like a dippy little frick) but you can pull it off if you wear bib overalls or don't give a frick. It ain't like you smoke it in public very often. And as long as it isn't some stank shit with Latakia in it, no one but Karens complain that you're smoking. It's almost pleasant and incense-like. You're still a hipster, but the kind that brews your own beer and does Commedia del'Arte on the weekends. The kind with a workshop out in the shed or basement. It's not sexy but no one cares as long as you aren't the wrong kind of sperg.

I recommend a cheap pipe and anything that comes in a navy roll, stuffing two coins in and lighting it is the easiest way to get started, everyone else is a moron.

The only two ways to smoke a pipe are whatever looks good at a nearby store (they sell wood ones at your local scummy smoke shop) or order a Calabash and flex.

            Anonymous

Meerschaum is the flex, various Peterson things with System designs or merely Victorian plumbing made of hammered silver are a flex. Calabash is pure personal enjoyment that looks like a pipe. And pipes are made of Briarwood, almost exclusively. Just call it briar, unless it's olive. Not much else is used because it's either inferior in hardness and grain or ridiculously toxic.

Back to the discussion, Tolkien favored navy cuts with Virginia and maybe some perique and it's no wonder. Great smoke that's continually enigmatic to the tongue but not overpowered or cloying, and a fair amount of Uncle Nick to satisfy the mind. Bright, effervescent, the leaf of my people.

Fancy pipes are a flex and everyone knowns Calabash is fancy

It's the warm up act to a named maker with a 4 figure price tag. Besides, it's the one time the experience is all on the user and no one cares, even pipegays are just like "that's nice" and go on smoking. No one else knows or cares.

            Anonymous

No point in buying big names for pipes. Just buy what either works or looks cool. I think Calabash looks cool. I myself smoke a 30 dollar pipe from China I pack with cigarette ends.

Pretty much, although paying a little more is sometimes a guarantee that it isn't drilled like shit. This Ropp made from vintage stock and horn is quite nice, although the one that was nearly half the price probably smokes just as well or better. I recently bought a little French clencher made in Italy that was not cheap enough and tied to a brand of drugstore tobacco and the hole is in the wrong place. Smokes great half the time, but the hole is too low in the bowl.

Man, when you find a good pipe you know how to smoke, it's great. Hence the cob recommendation. Learn how to not torch the rim of the bowl or burn out the bottom and what bad balance feels like and you're set for life at any price. The spit trumpet spigot on that Peterson is a nice thing to pay out the ass for thoughever, especially on a straight pipe.

While I'm sure posers do, those of a writerly inclination are oft predisposed to boredom and various palliatives. A pipe is easily the least murderous or suicidal of them. May as well assuage their wroth tendencies and guide them to the light of clean pipe weed instead of huffing binders and flavors that sound like mars volta lyrics.

EDIFYING THOUGHTS OF A TOBACCO SMOKER

Whene’er I take my pipe and stuff it
And smoke to pass the time away
My thoughts, as sitting there I puff it,
Dwell on a picture sad and grey:
It teaches me that what similar stripe
Am I myself unto my pipe.

Like me this pipe, so fragrant burning,
    Is made of naught but earthen clay;
To earth I too shall be returning,
And cannot halt my slow decay.
My well-used pipe, now cracked and broken,
Of mortal life is but a token.

    No stain, the pipe’s hue yet doth darken;
It remains white. Thus do I know
That when to death’s call I must harken
My body, too, all pale will grow.
To black beneath the sod ’twill turn,
Likewise the pipe, if oft it burn.

Or when the pipe is fairly glowing,
    Behold then instantaneously,
The smoke off into thin air going,
‘Til naught but ash is left to see.
Man’s fame likewise away will burn
And unto dust his body turn.

How oft it happens when one’s smoking,
The tamper’s missing from its shelf,
And one goes with one’s finger poking
Into the bowl and burns oneself.
If in the pipe such pain doth dwell
How hot must be the pains of Hell!

Thus o’er my pipe in contemplation
Of such things – I can constantly
    Indulge in fruitful meditation,
    And so, puffing contentedly,
On land, at sea, at home, abroad,
I smoke my pipe and worship God.

Also der Schluss,

      Erbauliche Gedanken machen.

      Drum schmauch ich voll Zufriedenheit

Zu Land, zu Wasser und zu Haus

Running >> smoking. Nearly all the same psychological effects, except much healthier in the long run, doesn't stink and makes you feel good for a while after you do it, instead of the effects being over in 5 minutes.

There's a dignity in pipe-smoking which precludes the likelihood of assault. If you approached a pipe-smoker in anger, your hands would shake as if palsied. The sight of his contented puffing would cause you to dismiss thoughts of bloodshed. You would stand — how shall I put it? — in awe.

        But a cigarette-smoker . . . Well, why not shoot a cigarette-smoker?

Smoke cigars, they are very affordable and of good quality. Do not smoke the brands you see advertised by morons who do not know how to smoke them.

Dipping is objectively the worst form to enjoy tobacco.

Smoking is kinda IQfy, being addicted to smoking is very gay tho.

Like it's all cool when you're some broody writer on a typewriter with a cigarette hanging out your mouth smacking away in the night. But then you're also that guy that literally can't go a few hours without needing your little nicotine hit and are an annoying frick.

Try nicotine pouches, anon. You get increased focus from it without having to do anything with your hands so it doesn't interfere with your reading/writing. It also doesn't stink up your place (I believe your pee jugs are enough of an environment degradation, no need to add more disgusting shit)

They are not cuban, they simply have the name. I think they are a family that fled Cuba during the revolution. I also recommend Drew Estates.

I smoked socially for a while. Then I smoked once a week, then twice a week. Did that for years, always escalating slightly. Now it's every waking hour of my life.

I'm trying to quit, but the addiction has quite the grip. My brain has changed. I know it has changed. There are pathways that simply demand my daily attention, all because of sweet nicotine.

0 stars would not recommend. I wish they would outlaw cigarettes.

I'm going to go outside and smoke right now. I suggest that you find a different path.

narrrrr it’s shit man. your throat will always feel fricked. you will have a perennial chesty mucusy cough. if you live in a country where it’s heavily taxed your wallet will always be lighter. you will stink like no tomorrow and if you do it inside your furniture n walls and everything (even the dog) will be stained to frick- to kingdom fricking come. your teeth will get stained.

BROOOO such a sick buzz tho… totally… sooo stimulating bro…
    >are_you_fricking_serious_pepe_face.jpg

OTOH chewing something with nicotine in it goes pretty hard like quitter’s gum or snuff pouches n whatnot. there’s a native australian plant called pituri. aboriginal australians used to chew on its leaves to stave off hunger and stim themselves up for massive walkabouts in the outback. white scientists analysed samples of it and found out it was loaded with nicotine and nornicotine. abos would trade everything and anything they had for it. it’s not reckoned to be a hallucinogenic but some people report aboriginals would mix it with acacia in the ashes of their firepits to create a seriously intoxicating chewy. acacia contains DMT somehow or other. anyway I’d love to get my hands on some and use that for my daily upper. seeds are available online but there’s not much info about the consumption or use of it and any method of mixing it with acacia is skint online.

    frick you.

How does one get into cigars like there’s so many and surely they all taste the same?

They do overlap, at the lower end, around $8 to $15 a cigar, you are looking for built quality and simply pleasant sensation.

Camacho has a few good lines where you can try different kinds of cigar in the same size, Robusto, and try to get a feel for what you like. They are also affordable.

I've been quit for over a decade. Very happy about it. I enjoyed the camaraderie of smoking and smoking itself (and you DO look cool doing it), but we all know the overwhelming negatives. $3.01 a pack when I started, further back

The thing that allowed me to quit was that I had an external, immediately obvious negative thing on my hands that I (correctly) connected to the smoking. People will ignore and defer problems for years, deformities, lesions on the feet, the back, etc. But once you get something nasty looking on your hands or your face, the most public (and, apart from the genitals, the most "public" and psychologically important parts of your body), people take steps very quickly. In my case I started getting an eczema rash on my fingers, it was all over and getting worse. I tried reducing smoking, perhaps over about a week or so, and then I just... quit. Really itchy, wanted a smoke, wanted a smoke, but then the rash on the hands pretty much cleared up within a week. This immediate positive visible benefit is what allowed me to stay quit.

I still wanted it for about three years afterwards. When I'd pass someone smoking on the street it would smell sweet, ooh I want that. About five years out, I started perceiving the odor as gross and nasty again, which is perfect. That's exactly where you want to be. Also, back when I had money (which I've long since pissed away), mom suggested that I look at a few local houses. There was a decent one on the other end of town, I could have seen living there. We went in another, nearby one, apparently inhabited by some little old lady. The whole first floor was just nasty ass, and the entire building was shot through with nasty, permanent third hand smoke stench. I suppose this image was also useful in helping to stay quit. Now if only I could quit drinking.

Good luck quitting drinking if no cigs. You have to go to hell and back for that. The positive results are immense but it’s coffee and cigarettes as my vice now which I couldn’t live without. Over 2 years sober

    smoking is pussy conformist bullshit

      Anonymous

It really isn't, least of all today. Businesses and states really really don't want their populations (cattle) to smoke (well, except for tobaccos companies, of course) because productivity, lower costs, Make Line Go Up, etc. By choosing to slowly have a nice day, you exert bodily autonomy and realize a degree of freedom that they want to make as difficult for you to realize as possible. This is a large part of the camaraderie between fellow smokers, which I enjoyed when I smoked.

The current pussy conformist behavior is wearing a mask.

You cannot smoke and not be addicted. If you smoke, you will die years earlier than you could, probably from lung cancer. Read "easy way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr. I used to smoke and i regret not quitting earlier, this shit literally gives you nothing. If you think smoking is "cool" i'll see how you'll feel when you constantly wheeze, cough and can't run 10 meters and last 1 hour without a cigarette.
    >b-but i only smoke 1 cigarette per year on very special occasions and i will never ever ever start smoking more often!
Keep inhaling that sweet sweet cope if you wish, you'll regret it later.
