No, but for on call notices. It's a fricking papermill of all places.

signal is run by an ex-google woman ceo who is determined to tank the project. to the best of my knowledge, the protocol is safe, but it's going to keep getting worse and worse. by now it's basically a dead platform. i used to have a lot of contacts on it, now it's like 2 and we just use other things.
she absolutely gutted their userbase by ripping out the sms fallback, so people can't use it for opportunistic encryption anymore by just using it as their texting app.
just in time for google to launch all the RCS central server bullshit so they can monitor everything, conveniently

Worst of all, the ex-Google Signal CEO then proceeded to say that people should just use Google Messages

Tell me where I apply to a job that doesn't require zucksapp, I'd rather stay unemplyed than touch that shit with a ten foot pole.
I mean Signal isn't great but the encryption actually works which is al that matters, good normalgay messenger

If it wants your phone number, it's not safe to use.

It started out safe, but since Katherine Maher was in charge it's 100% compromised.

Also they explicitly refused making reproducible builds and there's only one reason for that...

the reason is that Apple injects their own bullshit into the process and building it as a developer requires private keying everything, moron, of course they're not releasing that

It IS safe. There is not a single coherent argument for why it is not. Sure it's centralized but that's its only issue (which isn't that big of an issue when it's end to end encrypted).

If you're extra paranoid use Session

        >it's end to end encrypted
I see you have made a small and common mistake, it's actually end to end to end encrypted, a minor difference but very important.

if it's not safe, why havent there been any whistle blowers? The types of people who develop these types of open source encrypted chat algorithms aren't the types of people to keep their whistles silent. Are they?

it's safe as no one has ever managed to prove otherwise.

even if it wasn't the safest, it's far better than anything else companies usually use (teams, slack or even matrix sometimes)

The real answer. It's better than the rest and even if it's not, it's your company's problem.
