And you're a pretentious moron then, easily replaced but demands a top 1% salary. Firstoids are spoiled, useless, crybabies.

lolno. Corporate might think so but then they grind to a halt in 4 months when everything starts breaking and pay me 4x my salary to fix it

You realise CS was the fastest growing university degree in nearly every country for the last decade right?
The number of jobs is the same as 2020, but with 3 more years of fresh grads looking for jobs.

The chart measures job postings, not total employment.
Software didn't experience layoffs really mid-2020.
COVID fiscal policy prevented many layoffs, and demand for software products actually rose with the rise of remote work.
So the mid-2020 had fewer openings, but also no layoffs.
The environment is worse now: fewer openings WITH layoffs.

Airplane pilots had the exact opposite trend. There were "layoffs" in the form of early retirement packages during COVID when noone was flying. Now Airlines are scrambling for pilots (pilot shortage, lots of openings) because of their downsizing during the pandemic.

    >crunch comes and they want to cut their wage bill
yeah that bit is over, but the endless suffering of anyone who works in the godforsaken industry will never end

Why stop at 2020 on the lookback? You make it look like just a covid spike in hiring.

exactly. the beginning of the graph is the initial dip after covid was declared a pandemic in 3/20.
if you went back further the low of today would lprobably look a lot worse
